Physical Description of Persona:
Tiya has recently had a growth spurt, but she's still quite small, even for a girl. Her brown hair has recently been cut very short, framing her face and hanging just long enough to cover her ears. She has a sweet looking round face and large brown eyes. Her skin is quite dark, both by complexion and from a healthy tan.

Emotional Description of Persona:
Tiya's life has never been easy, but recent events have given her severe emotional problems--some deeper than anyone may realize. Where once she was shy, she is now coldly withdrawn, and tends to view the world through eyes that are far too calculating. She has been given a very warped view of sex and has developed a habit of making rather shocking comments on the subject just to see people's reaction. She has a deep grudge against the man who was so briefly her husband, and is convinced that someone should make him suffer for what he did--and if no one else is going to, she will.

History of Persona:
Tiya was born the third of nine children to Natiye and Otone on a minor hold in Emerald Falls territory. As the eldest daughter, Tiya found herself trying to fill in for her mother at an early age, as a string of never ending pregnancies wore Natiye down. Otone was a strict father, but not very good at running a hold, and tended to blame their poverty on anyone but himself.

Tiya and all of her brothers and sisters learned to work hard and early, though Tiya and her two older brothers did their best to keep the burden as light as possible on the youngest children. Tiya's father disliked her intensely for some reason and her slightest infraction brought his wrath down upon her.

Shortly after Tiya's thirteenth birthingday, Tiya's eldest brother bundled her out of the holding in the middle of the night with no explanation. The two traveled a good distance away, where they were met by their uncle, a bluerider at River Bluff Weyr. Tiya's brother explained that their father had made a deal with a rather rich neighbor who had buried two wives and was looking for a third. Their father had collected a rather large sum of marks to spend on the holding, and Tiya was to be handed over to him in two days time, though the marriage was to be put off until Tiya had reached a slightly more acceptable age.

Tiya was hesitant about leaving her mother and brother to deal with her father's anger, but the idea of being married off to a man older than her father was far more terrifying.

She met Abrei the night she arrived at the Weyr, her uncle insisting on having her examined to see if she'd sustained any damage from her last altercation with her father. She adored the Master Healer at once, and by the end of the sevenday after her arrival was firmly in place as an apprentice Healer.

Tiya stood at several Hatchings after her arrival, and although she rather liked the thought of being a dragonrider, she'd also shown herself to be a fairly talented healer. She adjusted fairly well to life at the Weyr, though she always remained scared of the thought of Fyzone somehow getting his hands on her.

Several months before her fifteenth birthingday, her worst fears were realized. A man arrived at River Bluff, claiming to be a relation of her mother. He brought news that her younger sister was to be wed to Fyzone in Tiya's place, unless Tiya was willing to leave the Weyr and agree to the marriage she'd put off. Although she was too young to be married by Emerald Falls' laws, Tiya agreed to sneak out from River Bluff and rode overland with the man--who turned out to be one of Lord Enrizial's guards, sent to lure her away from the Weyr by any means necessary.

Although she was ill-prepared for the treatment she received at Fyzone's hands, Tiya had learned something from the independent women at the Weyr. Instead of meekly submitting to Fyzone's demands, she began to slowly poison him, starting with their wedding feast. His string of illnesses lasted long enough for Tiya's brother to realize where she was and bring proof of her age to Lord Enrizial. Angry at having been lied to, Lord Enrizial put Tiya's father on trial, but no evidence could be found that Fyzone knew that the young woman he took to bed and to wife was merely fourteen.

Though Tiya has been returned to River Bluff, her anger over the fact that Fyzone escaped punishment lingers on, and her ordeal has certainly changed her.
