Physical Description of Persona:
Abrei is cursed with looks far more exotic than she'd like. Tall and long limbed, it took years to grow into any sort of gracefullness. Her skin is very tan, and matches her dark hair and eyes well. She has a shapely figure, much to her dismay, and tends to wear serious, somber clothing that will conceal it.

Emotional Description of Persona:
Abrei is hardly what anyone would describe as a social creature. She lacks any sort of tact or conversational grace, and when forced to discuss something that doesn't involve healing, she tends to be at a loss. She has gained a reputation for being a difficult woman to deal with, and reacts rather badly to flirting. Being promoted to Master at a very young age has left her feeling she has something to prove, and she dedicates herself almost entirely to her Craft.

History of Persona:
Born to two healers at Dragonsfall Weyr, Abrei grew up immersed in her Craft from the time she could walk. She grew up knowing that her father had forsaken a generous posting at Healer Hall so that his daughter could pursue a craft if she chose, and she was determined not to disappoint him.

Apprenticed to one of the Master Healers at the Weyr as soon as she was old enough, Abrei studied hard and showed a genuine flair for Healing.

Abrei had little time for anything but her Craft, and was nearly twenty when she stumbled into her first romantic attachment--a brownrider who was patient with her inexperience and obsession with her studies. Things seemed to be going well enough until Z'mias' dragon decided to chase a rising green. Irrationally jealous, Abrei ignored his protests and insisted on standing by him during the flight. Z'mais' dragon didn't win, but the after affects were as intense as Z'mais had feared, and Abrei was suitably upset and frightened by the experience.

Z'mais did his best to help Abrei, but she stubbornly clung to her trauma, using it as an excuse for ignoring everything except her studies. Eventually the frustrated brownrider gave up, and Abrei transferred to River Bluff Weyrhold shortly before it was renamed River Bluff Weyr.

Abrei studied intently and permitted no distractions, and was rewarded with her Master's knots at the tender age of thirty--the youngest age allowed. Proud of the rare honor, she worked hard to prove to the Weyrhealer that she deserved it, and eventually it became clear that she would step up to take the position of Weyrhealer when her mentor retired.

Just before her thirty-third turn the current Weyrhealer grew ill, and Abrei stepped up, and did her best to prove to those who look askance on her age that she is perfectly adept.

Not long after her promotion, Abrei took a bad fall and injured her knee rather severly. Stubbornly refusing to stay off it long enough to let it heal, Abrei pushed herself until the Weyrwoman felt the need to intercede, bringing another Master Healer to the Weyr to help Abrei manage the infirmary while she recovered.

Master Jynrek insisted that Abrei spend a lot of time resting. During this time she fell almost by mistake into her first romance in over ten turns, with an overly charming bronzerider who was persistant enough to win his way into her bed.

The relationship ended badly, and signaled the beginning of a trying time for Abrei. Missing R'han more than she cared to admit, Abrei suffered a string of emotional blows one after another, including the necessity of another surgery to repair some of the scarring on her knee.

Though she recovered from the surgery for the most part, an infection in its wake led to the development of an ulcer, which grew quickly when combined with Abrei's habit of long hours, lots of stress, too much wine and not enough sleep.

When it became obvious that the stress of her life and job was quite literally killing her, Abrei was forced to step down as Weyrhealer and is now attempting to heal both her body and her spirit. Good luck.
