Physical Description of Persona:
Talrian is tall like everyone in his father's family, with the same dark hair and dark skin. From his mother, however, Talrian inherited bright blue eyes and thick eyelashes that made him highly popular with the ladies in his youth. His figure has always been slender and lanky, very unlike his father's muscular build. With a sister and a daughter who both share a love of sewing, though, Talrian's always dressed in perfectly tailored clothing.

Emotional Description of Persona:
Talrian comes from a family of feisty, temperamental women, and has learned over long turns to appreciate a woman with a little bit of attitude. Though his sister and cousin tormented him while he was growing up, he ended up falling in love with a woman every bit as spirited as them. He is pleased to see the same sort of spirit in his two daughters.

Though he has no problem with the idea of women crafters--indeed, with his cousin holding the post of Weyrhealer at River Bluff, doing so might get in trouble with his family--Talrian considers his mother and sister to be proof that women can have families and still be content in life. Though he offered both of his daughters the option of going to a Weyr, he is pleased that his youngest has chosen to look for a husband instead of a craft or a dragon. As far as Talrian is concerned, family should be the most important thing in _anyone's_ life, be they male or female.

History of Persona:
Talrian comes from a family of healers, and had little doubt about what he was going to do with his life from an early age. Still, though he was always dedicated to his craft, Talrian found plenty of time to get into trouble with his sister, who ruled over him with an iron fist despite being two turns his junior.

Frequent visits to the Weyr to visit his uncle Abentor gave Talrian a healthy perspective on the ability of women to do whatever they wanted. Even though the atmosphere at the Healer Hall was strict, Talrian never had any problems with a woman who would assert herself. From the moment he met Linyne, the feisty and highly intelligent daughter of one of the journeymen at the Hall, Talrian adored her.

Linyne and Talrian were married as soon as Talrian earned his journeyman's knots, at the tender ages of 18 and 17. Two children followed shortly after, though the birth of their second daughter, Rialine, was sufficiently difficult for Linyne that Talrian insisted they have no more children. Even with the precautions, Linyne's health never fully recovered. A string of never ending illnesses followed, and the fact that she made it so long was a testament to Talrian's stubbornness and the proximity to so many highly trained healers. In the end, Linyne succumbed to a chest cold and died shortly before her youngest daughter's fifteenth birthingday.

Even though they'd spent plenty of time expecting Linyne's death, Rialine and Talrian found it harder to deal with than they'd imagined. Talryne had recently Impressed a green dragon and was unable to return, leaving Talrian with only his youngest daughter for company.

After a turn of grieving, Talrian and Rialine both decided that a change in scenery would be helpful. Luckily, about that time Talrian received a request from his cousin, the Weyrhealer at River Bluff Weyr. She had met an interesting young Vintner who was doing interesting things with medicinal wines, and thought that Talrian might enjoy working with him. Since the Vintner Hallmaster had recently sent another request for a healer, Talrian agreed to take the post.
