Physical Description of Persona:
Though he is not tall at only 5'8", Penryn has an undeniable presence. Dark blue eyes look out from under his strong brow. His nose is long and straight, and his jaw is square. He keeps his sandy blonde hair tied back at all times. Turns spent out in the sun have darkened him a bit, though in the winter he is a much lighter shade. All together, Penryn has a very determined and intense look about him.

Emotional Description of Persona:
Penryn takes his work seriously. He never leaves off 'til tomorrow what could be done today. Though he expects hard work from those around him, he is not one to delegate a task that he himself could do. He would rather do it himself and know it was done right than to have to go back and redo it later. Though he is a natural leader, he has no qualms about taking direction from those in authority. When an emergency arises he is often the first to step in and take charge of the situation, and he will see it through to completion. He will listen to the suggestions of those under him, but when direction is given he does not like them to take their own initiative. In his mind there can only be one leader in a group, and he is it. Still, his men find him to be fair-minded and charismatic. He has earned their respect and he works hard to keep it.

There is no life for Penryn really outside of work. On occasion he has been known to go out with the lads, but he would rather sit at his desk and work on hidework into the night then spend it alone in his rooms. Though he is quick witted, his sense of humor has become somewhat sarcastic. Though he expects that he will remarry, he has no romantic notions. Those dreams have faded into monochromatic practicality.

History of Persona:
Penryn was born at Garnet Valley Hold to a beastcrafter and his wife. From his youth he had dreamed of becoming a hold guard and would often watch them during their training after his chores were done. He was never so happy as the day he was accepted into guard training. His happiness was short-lived, however, when one day he had a runner accident that left him with a horribly injured knee. Though the healers reassured him that in time it would heal, they warned him that it would never hold up under the physical life of a hold guard. Even turns after the accident his knee still aches with changes in the weather and if he uses it too rigorously.

His father was good friends with one of the foremen at the Hold. During the young man's recuperation he was put to work helping with hidework. His organizational skills did not go unnoticed. However, the young man did not want to spend all his days indoors. He asked to be allowed to join the foreman's work party as soon as his knee allowed, though he still helped out with the hidework from time to time. Penryn's natural leadership abilities and understanding of the behind the scenes planning made him an obvious candidate to become a foreman himself. His work party soon gained a reputation as a well organized and efficient crew.

At the age of 28 he married Jaika, a girl from a local cothold. She was the love of his life until her her untimely death two turns later. After she was gone, Penryn threw himself even harder into his work. Those who knew him well could see the changes in their friend. His witty and light hearted humor was replaced with sarcasm, and he spent every night at his desk rather than in his rooms.

The extra hard work was appreciated, however, and he was soon after asked to take the position of understeward when it was vacated. Penryn knew he needed something new in his life - a change of pace. He happily accepted assisting the Steward in his duties.

His life changed again when the Lord Holder and Steward were murdered. Until a new Lord Holder could be appointed, the task of running the Hold had fallen on his capable shoulders, though it remained to be seen what his future position in the Hold would be. When the new Lord Regent, Ishek, arrived at Garney Valley, Penryn was confirmed in his position as the new Steward. Now is the time for Garnet Valley Hold, and their new Steward, to make a fresh start.

His life was changed again when he agreed to marry Ryalane, the former Assistant Headwoman who was left widowed at pregnant in the same attack that claimed the lives of her husband, Steward and Lord Holder. It is not a marriage of love, but of mutual convenience.

Promise was a gift to Penryn from his young wife on the occasion of their engagement. The light green flit is well trained at carrying messages, but all in all is the lazy sort. She often can be found lounging in the sun or curled up in front of the fire during winter.
