Persona Profile: Sh'del

Writer: Len

Name: Sh'del
Age: 41
Birthday: m9 d24
Rank: Weyrlingmaster Second
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Craft: Smith
Craft Rank: Junior Journeyman
Speciality: Stone Mason
Face Claim: Mike Phillips

Physical Description of Persona:
Sh’del stands 6'3" tall and has the build typical of someone of the Smith Craft. His hair is dark brown and cut short to be both comfortable under a helmet and so he doesn’t have to fuss with it. He has almond shaped blue eyes and a handsome face that still manages to look boyish.

Emotional Description of Persona:
For the most part, Sh’del is pragmatic and level headed. He does have a streak of temper but has to be really pushed before it’ll come out. Disrespect of women and of his fellow riders will do just that, which is one reason he’d rather not have much to do with Holds. He can be tough on others but would never expect someone to do something that he cannot do himself. He can, at times, come across as a bit world weary. He tends to have a lot of female friends who aren’t neccesarily lovers.

History of Persona:
Sh’del was born to a Journeyman Smith and a lower caverns worker at Vista Point Weyr, the younger of two boys. He followed both his father and brother into the Smith Craft at the age of 12. He was quite happy not to tempt the Sands but, on a bet with some mates, did just that at age 20 and was shocked to discover a begraggled Loranth all but sitting on his foot, begging for Impression. Being one of the older Weyrlings, he took extra time with the younger ones, helping where he could and forming a close friendship with a couple of greenriders, who he felt where like the baby brother and sister he never had.

In the first turn of Threads’ returning, they--like so many others--died in Fall. The devistation of losing his ‘siblings’ prompted Sh’del to ask for a transfer, this time to Dream’s End Weyr. In time, he served as wingsecond before Loranth and he were hit by a bad scoring, taking both of them out of action for a turn. For Loranth, it was a score alongside his left wing and for Sh’del, on his thigh and knee, cutting almost to the bone.

When Loranth was able to return to fighting Thread, Sh’del once more asked for and received a transfer, this time to Dolphin’s Cove, a turn and a half ago. Since then he has kept his head down and worked quietly in his Weyrleader’s wing, until just recently N'vanik came to him with an offer he couldn't refuse, that of being the new Weyrlingmaster.

A few turns later he broke his leg badly in a fall and had to stand down as Weyrlingmaster.

Dragon's Name: Loranth
Dragon's Age: 22
Dragon's Colour: Brown
Description of Dragon:
Not as robust as his rider, Loranth is none the less a big brown, long in leg and in wing. His colour is the same as a dark bay runner, almost black in shade. He--like most of his colour--is very steady and calm, and can be almost mothering to the young dragons in their wing. Nothing seems to flap him, not even when he had the terrible scoring.

Trouble, Green Firelizard: aged 6, hatched m6 d5
Next Mating Flight: m12 d11
She lives up to her name, finding anything and everything to get into. Loranth considers her his flit more so than Sh’del’s and she spends most her days sleeping on the brown or flying about him, bossing him. She was a gift from a former lover a few turns ago.

She's a jade green and is tiny, even for a green.
