Persona Profile: O'dan (Inactive)

Writer: Jane

Name: O'dan
Age: 49
Birthday: m3 d8
Rank: Wingrider, Lightning Wing
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Craft: Healer
Craft Rank: Junior Journeyman
Speciality: Massage Therapy

Physical Description of Persona:
O'dan is tall and muscular, with particuarly wide shoulders and make him somewhat imposing. His hair is dark and cleanly cut, and his brown eyes sit under rather pronounced eyebrows. His nose looks like it might have been bent in a fight, and combined with his strong jaw and stern gaze, makes him look like a man not to be trifled with.

Emotional Description of Persona:
Appearances can be decieving, and that is true with O'dan. Although he looks stern and imposing, he's actually surprisingly laid back. With a jovial sense of humour and a roving eye for the ladies, there's nothing O'dan enjoys quite so much as a good time.

Nevertheless, he is strict when it comes to certain things--the safety of riders and dragons under his care being the most important. He's particuarly good with younger riders, and can usually put them enough at ease to help them with their problems.

History of Persona:
O'dan was craftbred, but he took to the Weyr like he'd been born there, and has never looked back. He never took to healing, unlike his brothers and father, so he was more than happy to Impress bronze Kizynth and have a different path in life, though the fact that Thread had not yet returned ensured his half-hearted attention to his craft once he'd passed out of Weyrlinghood.

Although O'dan took his new responsibility very seriously, he lacked the ambition of some of his fellow bronzeriders. He didn't mind taking orders from Wingleaders, and never particularly wanted to become one, enjoying the low responsibility life of a wingrider.

The return of Thread changed him as much as it changed everyone, and although O'dan never discovered a yearning for leadership within himself, he did accept a Wingsecond position and found it wasn't quite as bad as he'd imagined.

Things might have been good if he'd remained Wingsecond, but when Dolphin Cove's senior gold was caught by Kizynth, O'dan suddenly found himself in the one position he had never wanted--Weyrleader.

The months that he held the position were educational for O'dan as well as Dolphin Cove. He spent most of his time crashing rider's parties and showing off his new weyr to any woman who caught his fancy--and many women did.

In the end, lack of preparation and dedication ended in disaster when O'dan brought his wing into a dangerous formation during the first Threadfall of month seven, turn three. Several of his wingriders were killed and many more were injured, including O'dan himself. O'dan and Kizynth were both scored badly enough that no one is sure if either will recover fully.

Dragon's Name: Kizynth
Dragon's Age: 34
Dragon's Hatching Date: m3 d26
Dragon's Colour: Bronze
Description of Dragon:
Kizynth is smaller than many of the other bronzes, but his smaller size makes him a good bit faster. This didn't save him from a devestating Thread injury, and with a severly damaged wing, no one is sure if Kizynth will ever fly again.
