Physical Description of Persona:
Kaldyn is a tall, heavy set man, his girth attributed to muscle rather than fat. He has spent so many turns out in the fields, tending the crops and ploughing the earth, that his rugged face is more leathery than his boots. His features may be weathered but the once handsome man is still in evidence. His hair is dark and wavy with the occasional streak of peppery grey, and catches at his collar during the colder months when his wife refuses to cut it. His eyes are the azure blue of the sea, deep set and fringed with dark lashes. His nose is long and straight with a pointed tip, passed down from some long forgotten ancestor.

Emotional Description of Persona:
The eldest son of two Amethyst Cliff Hold farmers, Kaldyn is a reliable, and responsible man. He takes and gives no nonsense, never has and never will, he continually says. And anyone who knows him would agree he is built that way.

He cares deeply for his mother, and holds a deep respect for his father, but there has always been a distance between the men that he has never been able to bridge.

He is described in turns as: hard-working; a man of few words when actions will suffice; trustworthy; loving and lovable; and dependable - by the people who know him best - his family.

History of Persona:
Kaldyn grew up on a farm a days ride from Amethyst Cliff Hold, with his mother and father and four siblings. He has known no other life, and is content to be that way. His parents taught him the value of hard work and the responsibility they have to the Hold and the Weyr.

From a young boy he was fascinated in the dragons; though he knew his future lay elsewhere and so never had the urge like his younger brothers and sister, to Stand for a Hatching. He was content to watch from a distance, when the dragons overflew their farmland, admiring of the power and beauty they held, but never envious of their riders.

The love of his life grew up on the neighbouring farm; he has known Karei for most of their lives. He was loathe to leave her, but went away for his formal training in Farmcraft and worked industriously for the three, long, turns he was away from the family hold.

He loves his family dearly but has a special place in his heart for his youngest daughter, Reia, who arrived late in their lives. Karei and he had thought they were well passed the age where they would have any more children, with their youngest son Kalrei the last to leave the hold, and make his way to the Weyr when he was sixteen turns old. Karei hadn't been able to make it to the Hatching; finding out a few days after Kalrei left, that she was two months into her fifth pregnancy.

The move to Amber Hills Hold has been an adjustment they have had to make. Where before, they had room to move out and away from the close proximity of extended family; now they are almost living on top of each other again. A parcel of land has been shared out among his parents, his brothers and himself; with more promised if their crops succeed. They are surrounded on all sides by herd-farmers who don't appreciate the fact that their herds no longer have free passage wherever they wish to go.

Only time will tell how much change they will have to endure, and whether their family can make a success of their move to Amber Hills Hold.
