Physical Description of Persona:
Long, chestnut brown hair cascades in waves, framing a gentle oval face set with soft, youthful features. Her cheekbones are high, but with soft contours and lacking any sharp edges. A healthy flush naturally colours those cheeks, a subtle contrast to her fair skin. A straight, and refined nose draws the eye upward, and dark, arched and neatly shaped eyebrows only draw more attention to the vibrant green of her eyes that peer out at the world in quiet fascination.

At first glance, she exudes a certain grace, though when she forgets herself, she falls into a far more relaxed posture, abandoning the formal for the informality that allows one a sense of freedom. Long, slender arms taper into delicate wrists and supple fingers which work at any task with dexterous ambition. She is slim, but not overly so, curves hidden beneath simple, plain dresses that do little to hide the natural beauty possess, though she seems to be ignorant of it. Long legs peek out when she hikes up her skirts, mainly to get them out of the way when in a hurry, or attending to a task that requires more mobility. When she is still, she stands with impeccable posture and gives an observer an impression of confidence.

Emotional Description of Persona:
Born with an insatiable curiosity, Claranel ventured out beyond the boundaries of the cothold almost as soon as she could walk, seeking to know more about the world in which she lived. With an outgoing personality, she enjoys being around others, but has no tolerance for bullies or those who look down upon people. Not the sort of person to sit still, every waking moment is spent doing something, and often she finishes her required tasks as quickly as she can in order to allow herself to explore her passions. She has a bit of a temper, especially when pushed, but give her time to cool down and she will usually issue an apology - if she feels it is warranted. Unfortunately, she also has a tendency to forget herself when diving into work, to the point of neglecting herself on occasion.

History of Persona:
Born to Riclar and Nelani, cotholders in the EFH territory who were part of several clustered together off the river, and who provided lumber to EFH as well as Harper Hall (and the Printer Hall in particular), Claranel is the oldest of three living children and the only girl. Her childhood was spent happily roaming the land in between lessons and working in the home.

When he retired, her paternal grandfather came to live with his son and his family when she was ten turns of age. Although he had visited from time to time, it wasn't until then that he formed a close bond with his grandchildren, but particularly with Claranel. At one time a Journeyman Healer, he saw in her a bright intellect and curiosity that he sought to cultivate.

Teaching her some very basic medical skills, he gave to what manuscripts he owned and provided, one even written on paper rather than hides. It was the flora in particular that Claranel was most interested in, and as she explored, she would draw. With her grandfather's encouragement, she began to also write about the various plants she observed, taking detailed notes of her observations, as well as the fauna that inhabited the areas around the cothold.

Every night, her family would gather and talk together. Her father was a fine storyteller, and she, too, picked up the skill, sometimes entertaining her siblings. As she grew older, her grandfather encouraged her parents to give her the opportunity to do something more than be a cotholder's wife. After some deliberation, they agreed to allow her to go to the Printer Hall, as it was receptive to female crafters, and would allow her to remain close by.
