Physical Description of Persona:
Enriline is slim, elegant and graceful still despite her advancing years and a growing stiffness in her joints. Tall for a woman, she has long, straight silver-grey hair with only the last few threads of black remaining in it and clear hazel eyes. Her skin is unusually pale among Emerald Falls holders, inherited from her mother who originated from the far North, and she takes great care to avoid burning by wearing wide-brimmed hats in the strong Southern sunlight.

Emotional Description of Persona:
The epitome of the traditional Lady Holder, Enriline is stern but fair with the drudges and workers of the Hold, strict with the more confident of the fosterlings under her care, but gentle with those who seem lonely or distressed. She holds traditional views of a woman's place, but her belief is that rules should be used compassionately and marriages should be based on respect between the husband and wife, not fear.

Enriline has one particular hatred - of lies and dishonesty, even coupled with good intentions, and she is utterly rigid in this outlook. She loathes the practice of keeping mistresses as well as wives, and has unsuccessfully attempted to get her husband and son to outlaw it altogether. Her grudge extends even to illegitimately-born children, and though she knows this to be unreasonable she finds it hard to shake off. She believes that the blood of the parents will tell in the child, and thus full-Blooded scions of old and highly-ranking families will be more noble in character than bastards or the children of drudges.

History of Persona:
Enriline was born in to the family of one of the oldest and wealthiest holds in Emerald Falls territory, and was brought up to have great regard for her high birth and rank and respect for tradition. Even before the ban on female crafters, her father Jarril was the unquestioned leader of his hold and saw only his sons as potential heirs, while the daughters were taught etiquette, embroidery and other such arts necessary to become an ornament to their future husbands. She was discouraged from associating with the children of lower rank, and though she was rebellious as a girl the death of her mother, Enlana, in a minor plague when she was fifteen left her desolate and in her grief accepting of her fate.

Her father soon after arranged a marriage for her with a close friend of his, a man from a smaller hold but of equally distinguished family, being distantly related to the Lord Holder. This man, Faymar, was kind and gentle, and as the months passed he helped his new wife to grieve and recover from her mother's loss. Though they were childless, he had a young cousin to whom he planned to leave the hold after his death.

After thirteen Turns of marriage, Faymar was seriously injured in a fall from a runner and survived only a few months longer. Enriline had originally planned to stay in the hold since being old for a first child and possibly barren she doubted she would ever marry again. On examining her husband's will, however, she was horrified to discover that he had left a small sum of marks and the rights to a cothold to another woman - a lover whose existence she had never known of. Immediately she left the hold and returned to her childhood home to live quietly there, assisting the Headwoman and caring for her half-brothers and sisters and nephews and nieces.

Everyone was startled, not least Enriline, when she received an offer of marriage from the Lord Holder himself, Lord Ziadriel. Despite the honour of the proposal, Enriline was reluctant, being content with her life and wary of the dark and angry man who had succeeded in eradicating female crafters in his Hold. Her father, however, would not hear of her refusing and she soon found herself the new Lady of Emerald Falls. It soon became clear that there was no love between her and the Lord, and Enriline was not inclined to try to convince him otherwise. She kept herself distant from him, only clashing with him over her refusal to allow his mistress, Cazala, to remain in the Hold with her son.

Enriline had four children of Ziadriel's - three girls and a boy, Enrizial, proving herself not to be barren after all. The daughters are now grown and married themselves, but she treats her daughter-in-law, Anaia, with as much love as her own offspring.

When Lord Cazriel took over Emerald Falls in the second Turn of the Pass, Lady Enriline was badly treated but eventually allowed to go to Amethyst Cliff Hold, to live with her youngest daughter.
