Persona Profile: Jaffra
Birthday: m10 d11
Rank: Senior Journeyman Weaver
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Craft Rank: Senior Journeyman
Crayon Awards: Favorite New Female Persona (December 2015)
Physical Description of Persona:
Jaffra stands at 5'8 tall. She has a long body and long legs, with subtle musculature. Her skin is pale, only blemished by freckles on the bridge of her upturned nose. Her eyes are a vivid blue, flecked here and there with greeny-brown. She has long blonde hair, which is almost always kept in a plait. She prefers to wear clothes (generally skirts and dresses) in blues, greens, reds and occasionally earthy browns. As a tailor, she's made all of her own clothes and always looks immaculate.
Emotional Description of Persona:
Had Jaffra impressed a gold dragon, she'd have made a formidable Weyrwoman; strong, decisive and outspoken. As luck would have it, she didn't impress, but she brought all of her tenacity to her craft. Unfortunately being outspoken doesn't always mean you have tact and apparently lacking in having remorse at saying the wrong things doesn't make you many friends. It would be fair to say that many find her abrasive and unpleasant, but her talent at tailoring means her work is highly sought-after.
When not working, she's either eating, sleeping, drinking (too much) and walking (alone). Mostly she just works.
History of Persona:
Jaffra was born the daughter of a tailor and a holder girl. When her mother's parents found out their unwed daughter was pregnant to a hold visitor, they hid her away, contacted her father and gave her over to him when she was born. He took her to Dolphin Cover Weyr and raised her, always being honest about her upbringing. Truthfully, he didn't want her either, but was merely obligated to spend some of his rest days with her.
Logic would suggest that she'd go into a different craft from her father, or work in the lower caverns. Innate talent had other plans. Even as a child, she could sew neatly and quickly and learned to modify clothes. She started making her own patterns, which became coveted by the women in the lower caverns. Her father took her on as an apprentice, but with as much interest as he'd even afforded her. Truthfully, he knew she'd surpass him before she walked the tables. Fortunately, he did nothing to hold her back, apart from leaving her to work alone.
She walked the table at age 18 and has spent the last twenty turns practicing her craft.
