Pierka

The celebrations had been going on for some time and T'nom had to
admit he'd been having a blast. Ever since his and Z'ku's bet awhile
back to dance with as many girls as possible at the Hatching, T'nom
had found himself opening up more to others.

He had enjoyed himself so much at the hatching that he'd decided to
continue, on his own, the same 'bet' with himself. So he'd danced,
talked and laughed with a variety of girls. Riders and non-riders
alike.

He'd just finished a rather rousing twirling dance with one, when he'd
declared he needed a break. The girls around him all groaned unhappily
as he'd pushed his way away from them. He'd become rather popular for
his interest in them in seemed.

Though he was having fun, unlike the way he'd felt in the past, T'nom
wasn't connecting with any of them beyond a surface level. None of
them left him feeling the way he felt with certain friends. Certain
people.

Moving away from the throng, he headed to the refreshments to get a
nice drink of klah.

"Pierka?" He asked at a familiar form as he approached. A genuine
smile was on his face at the sight of the petite greenrider.

"T'nom!" Pierka smiled up at the tall bronzerider. She hadn't seen a
great deal of him since he'd won her last flight but he'd been very
nice to her and she'd always liked him. She stroked her knots in
pride. "I'm joining N'vanik's wing next sevenday," she bragged
happily.

He glanced to her new knots and beamed.

"Pierka, that's fantastic!" T'nom reached over and wrapped her in a
hug and spun her around. "You deserve it if anyone does!
Congratulations!" He set her back on her feet and then looked a bit
sheepishly towards her. "Sorry about that. Got a bit excited there."
He reached a hand up an rubbed the back of his neck nervously.

Pierka's threw her head back thoroughly enjoying the impromptu
celebration and patted him on the arm when he put her down. "No, its
okay," she said. "I'm excited about it too!"

"How about I treat you to a little dance to celebrate?" He asked,
holding out his hand for her to take. She was so sweet and kind.
Though they hadn't ever really delved deeper into a friendship in the
past, T'nom wanted to change that. He'd been too occupied with other
things during their weyrling days and early days in the wings. Now it
was time to focus on friendships and relationships with others.

She nodded and smiled back up at him. "I'd like that," she said and
started toward the dance floor. She didn't often get asked so she took
advantage of the rare occasions when she did. T'nom was one of those
people in the Weyr that she really liked. He'd taken the time to get
past her initial barrier of reserve, which was mostly just shyness,
and that meant a lot to her.

In a matter of moments he was leading them around the dance floor.
T'nom wasn't a bad dancer, but his charm made up for the times he
might step on a toe or step out of sync now and again. He twirled her
for some time, before the song ended.

"That was fun. Are you up for another?" He asked, waiting as the next
tune began to play.

Pierka thoroughly enjoyed herself and was laughing and out of breath
when they finished. "Yes," she answered without a pause. This party
was turning into far more fun than she'd expected.

"Fantastic!" T'nom replied happily. This time the music had taken a
slower pace. "Slower is good. That last one was fast, and has me out
of breath." He held one hand out for Pierka and placed the other
behind her back. The motion itself drew her closer to him. T'nom
didn't mind in the slightest. However, he _did_ have to work to
control some rather interesting reactions his body was giving off.
Having Pierka so close to him reminded him of how it had felt to have
her in his arms after her Flight. Trying to avoid embarrassing
himself, he made conversation, and hoped she hadn't noticed the way
his body was reacting.

"So, with your new wing placement, you won't be helping with the new
weyrlings anymore. Did you like working with them? I don't think I
would have done well with them. It would be hard to discipline someone
so close to me in age." T'nom shrugged at that thought. He was glad he
wasn't really in charge of much of anything. He much preferred
watching and learning. Someday he knew he would be ready to lead more,
but right now he was still absorbing and learning as much as he could
in the fighting wings.

"I did," she replied to his question. "Like working with them that
is," she smiled. "And I didn't have to do much discipline. The Master
and Second did most of that. I just worked with them and observe.
Correcting where necessary." **That and healing** she thought. She
still hid the big scar on her back under her clothing most of the
time. Even on the hottest days she didn't take off her top cover up.
She was too self conscious. "I bet you'll be good at leading someday,"
she smiled up at him.

He actually blushed a bit at her compliment. "I hope so, someday. I'm
not ready now though. Sometimes I can hardly remember what direction
to go, let alone how I would manage other riders and dragons beneath
me." He'd already been given some small matters to lead and had done
well with those, but T'nom hadn't quite accepted the fact that he was
destined to lead in some way someday. It had been hard enough
accepting the fact that he'd Impressed at all, let alone a bronze as
amazing as Taldeth. He was gaining more confidence though.

As the song they were dancing to came to an end, he reached up and
wiped his arm across his brow. "It's warm in here. Care to take a walk
with me outside and get some fresh air?"

"It is," she agreed fanning herself and took his suggestion to head
out the door. The breeze off the water was light and laden with the
smell of a coming rain. "Smells like there may be rain," she said as
she turned to walk backwards for a few steps.

T'nom breathed in the fresh air. He liked the smell of the air just
before a rainfall.

"I love the fresh smell in the air. Walk with me a bit," he reached a
hand out to her, waiting for her to take it.

She smiled and took his hand. They hadn't walked together in ages.
Things had been so busy for them both the last few months. But she
remembered fondly their time as Weyrllings together when the others
had gone to sleep and they'd talked until the early candlemarks of the
morning. She had to skip a step now and then to keep up with him. He
was so much taller than she was. "Has Taldeth reached his full size
yet?"

"I think so, yes," T'nom replied, "He grew a bit after we graduated
weyrlinghood, but since then he hasn't grown at all. So I assume he's
done." Taldeth was a good sized bronze, even slightly on the larger
size. Though most of the bronzes seemed about the same size when they
were all gathered together. "What about Liddith? Did the injury slow
down her growing at all? Is she full-size now?" T'nom wasn't even sure
where they were walking, it was just nice to walk together with Pierka
by his side. She was small beside him, which only made him want to
protect her more. As they walked, his mind seemed to be guiding them
until they were soon closer to their weyrs than they had been before.

"Oh no, she had already reached her full growth when we...were
scored." She couldn't help the small hesitation when she had to talk
about her injury. She'd much rather forget it ever happened but it was
always on the back of her mind. "Liddith is petite and perfect. her
injury healed perfectly. She couldn't praise the Dragonhealers enough
at the time.," she smiled up at him. "I doubt she remembers it now
though." Pierka sighed. If only she could forget the score like she
had the first two thirds of her life.

"You've both healed well," he said quietly. He'd heard the hesitation
in her voice and while still holding her hand, he'd turned so he could
look into her eyes.

"You have _nothing_ to be ashamed of, you know," T'nom wasn't sure
what had made him say that. It was as though something inside him had
guided him to speak in that moment. "Both you and Liddith are just
more amazing and more beautiful _because_ of what you went through. It
takes a strong person to endure all that you've had to." He reached a
hand up and brushed her hair behind her ear. He held his hand there
for a moment longer than necessary. Then, without thinking, T'nom bent
and kissed her lightly on the lips.

Surprise froze her for a moment and then pleasure and acceptance
following by active response. Briefly she wondered about the goldrider
he'd been interested in for so long but that was only a fleeting
though quickly dismissed. Her hands rose to his arms and a small sound
escaped her throat.

Her response only fueled the fire building inside him. He wanted her.
Breaking the kiss, he took her hand and pulled her along behind him.

"Come on," he called, hurrying towards his weyr. His body already
feeling the effects of his desire for her. When they finally reached
the door, he stopped. He was breathing heavily from the trip, but it
was soon forgotten as he pulled her up in front of him.

His hand caressed her cheek. "I want you, Pierka," he said quietly,
bending down to kiss her again, waiting for her to give him the
permission he desired so he could take things further.

Pierka ran up the steps right behind him she was breathing as hard as
he was from the trip but her own body had clenched with desire when
he'd kissed her the first time. She slipped her hand into his as he
kissed her again. Not trusting her voice over much she squeezed his
hand "Yes," was all she said.

He gave her a sultry smile, took her hand, and lead her into his weyr.
