Pierka

Pierka
T'nom

T'nom

She came back from the deep black out of her post flight experience
knowing only that Liddith had again chosen bronze. She looked down to
see the arm curved over her. Then turned her head slowly to see who it
was held her.

T'nom lay with a satisfied smile on his face, his eyes still closed,
his breathing deep. The flight had been exciting and exhilirating. His
breathing slowly changed as he sensed the movement beside him. His arm
still resting over her, he shifted and opened his eyes, looking back
into the blue eyes that now looked to his.

At only sixteen turns Pierka wasn't very experienced. She'd had one
brief relationship if you could even call it that but he had moved on.
Then her first flight had been won by I'lan who was kind and had even
visited her in the infirmary when she'd been so badly scored. She
wasn't completely well even now. The scar tissue on her back was still
angry red and tender and she was a little self conscious about it.

She turned on her back with a blush and a shy smile. "Hi," she said.

"Hi," he spoke softly as he reached up to move a streak of her blonde
hair off her forehead as he rested his head on his arm.

"Thank you for an amazing flight," he smiled as he spoke the words,
"Are you okay?" He knew flights could be hard and Pierka was still
young and new at much of these things. They had known each other
through their training, but had never really become close friends.

All the bronze riders she'd met were so handsome it left her tongue
tied at times. She couldn't fathom why Liddith persisted in choosing
bronze. "I'm ok," she didn't exactly lie. She was uncomfortable since
she was so unused to intimacy and she was still small even at 16
turns. Flights were such a blinding glare of passion and she had yet
to experience anything near that without Liddith in the mix. "I'll be
fine," she told herself more than him. It wasn't really his fault
after all.

He heard the slight hesitation in her voice and from her body language
knew she wasn't completely comfortable. Not too long ago T'nom had
felt almost the same about sharing a bed with a total stranger, but as
Taldeth liked to chase, and win, as many Flights as possible, T'nom
had shed much of the shyness about intimacy he had carried for so many
years.

"How have you been since your injury Pierka?" He had hated being a
witness to what had happened to her, but in the months since then he
hadn't really talked to her much. He's been so busy trying to prove
himself as a new, worthy bronzerider that many of his relationships
and friendships had fallen by the wayside. It was time to try and
remedy some of that, if he could. He would start right now, today, by
trying to build a friendship with the dainty, charming greenrider.

"It's been a long road," she said softly. At first it had been painful
just to have clothes on her back. But now it was mostly healed. Only a
few spots that were the very worst were still tender. "Thanks for
asking," she smiled at him.

He returned her smile, gently rubbing his hand on her arm. "I think
you've been very brave Pierka." His smile was genuine as he added,
"How is it we didn't become friends sooner?" He knew the answer. He
had been too caught up in proving himself worthy of Taldeth, a fact
that dragon constantly reassured him about in those early months. Now,
finally, T'nom had started letting those thoughts fall by the wayside
and he was becoming a better rider and a better person because of it.
He hoped Pierka would accept his offer of friendship.

"Oh I don't know," she said tucking her head under his chin. There was
something special in just being held in a man's arms no matter how
briefly. Either that or she was just shy and uncomfortable looking at
him so closely. Or both. "We've been busy learning our jobs."

"That's the truth," T'nom replied, enjoying the fact that she seemed
content to cuddle in his arms. He decided to just enjoy the experience
for a few minutes, allowing silence to settle around them.

As she lay there with him in a pleasant fog she thought it would be
nice to have some friends. He seemed to be willing even through he was
quite a bit older than she was. "I'd like to be friends," she said
into his chest.

"Good," he replied. "I'd like that too." T'nom replied with a smile.
Everyone could use more friends. He'd be glad to call Pierka one of
his.
