Too Much Woman

Writers: Heather K, Len
Date Posted: 30th April 2012

Characters: E'ril, Sh'del
Description: Sh'del has girl troubles and confides in E'ril
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 6, day 11 of Turn 6

Sh'del stared hard at the paperwork about little Girellen that he had
to send to one of the gold riders. The little green weyrling just
wasn't getting the hang on /betweening/ and he wanted her to be held
back when the others graduated, and kept in the weyrlings wing with
the upcoming class of Elleth's. There wasn't any point in pushing her
to do what she couldn't and taking the risk of getting her and little
Jeth killed. Sighing heavy enough to make Trouble stop pouncing on
the ball of string some drudge had thoughtfully left in the room for
her, he eyed E'ril.

"Women can be more trouble than they're worth, some days." He was
still looking at the paperwork but his mind wasn't really on Girellen.

Looking up from his work, E'ril studied his coworkers face for a moment.
"This is known. Hadn't anyone told you?" He said jokingly. "No, but seriously,
something, or rather someone, on your mind, Sh'del?"

"Besides our green weyrling? No..." He shifted uncomfortably.
"Well...there is someone..."

Just the mention of young Girellen made the bluerider sigh. "Yes, besides
her. We've got a place for her even if none of us like it much." Pushing
himself back from his hides, E'ril waved his hand indicating to Sh'del that
he should continue. "Go on. Let's have it out."

"It's just this kitchen women..she doesn't seem to get the hint about
no." He eyed E'ril and grinned at the rather funny thought of a big
bloke like him being terrified of some tiny woman.

To another person the scenario would be something to joke about. What
man wouldn't want a woman waiting to pounce on him? E'ril was not this
sort of man and instead
made no such joke. "Some people just can't take a hint. I assume, of
course, you
have actually said the word 'no' instead of just implying it?"

"Well, sort of. I've told her I was busy and I wasn't really up for a
quick date, and she then made it out that she was looking for a
weyrmate and I should be as well." He rolled his eyes and made to
face plant himself on the table.

E'ril visibly cringed. This woman sounded like a real pain in the
rear."Wow, this woman sounds _really_ needy. Obviously you have to get
rid of her.
Any ideas on how you'd like to do it?"

"Besides ignoring her, which just seems to egg her on? Nope, not a
clue. Maybe taking all my meals either here or in my weyr?" He
glanced at Trouble and wondered if he could get her to carry food for
him. Without eating it all, that is.

"Seems extreme. What if we gave her a distraction? Someone else to
attach herself to?
I wouldn't normally suggest this but, seeing as how it would be a
favor to a friend in
need, I could...persuade her to let you go?" E'ril wasn't usually the
type to play with
a woman's heart. He figured have dinner, be charming, and if she was
what Sh'del says
she is she'd have forgotten him all together by the end of the evening,

"Only if you're a glutton for punishment, mate. I wouldn't wish her
on my enemies." Despite the words, Sh'del looked pleased with the
idea.

"Pfft, well then consider the offer retracted. How about for now you just
take an escort with you to the dining hall." Then an idea struck him. It was
awful but it just might work. "Have you tipped Trouble off yet? She might
just come in handy." He could see the little green flit shrieking and circling
the woman in his head.

At that Sh'del rolled his eyes. "She thinks Trouble's 'adorable' and
wouldn't you know, she has a blue flit as well!"

"Shells, man. This is really going to take some time. You got yourself
one _special_ lady friend, Sh'del," E'ril admitted.

Sh'del mocked punched the other man on the arm. "Let's drown our
troubles in the Dinning Hall. Beer or cider?" He glanced down once
more at Girellen's papers and sighed, just wanting all female troubles
out of his mind for one evening.

"What ever you think best...so probably both." He motioned for Sh'del to lead
the way out of the office and down to a place where things were more
simple. The bottom of a cold mug.
