Oria

Oria

The events of the past few days had been terrible, just terrible. She was just so lucky that her and Degrorth had flown the first part of the fall. So from that point of view, neither of them had been scored.

But when she reported in to the infirmary after, it was chaos. Casualties were being brought in all over.

The Duty Journeyman had just grabbed her and set her to work on triage.
Telling her to use her judgment and unless it really was serious just to do her best. She'd been too engrossed in treating people to really notice who had come in and who had not.

But you couldn't fail to notice when the Weyrleader himself had been brought in.

And so it was, a few days later, she found herself on duty and the infirmary quiet. That was the point at which she decided to go and see him herself.

O'dan was groggy when she slipped through the curtain, and gave her a sleepy smile. "Hello, Oria."

"Hello," she said with a smile. It was true about the wounds, so terrible.
It took strength not to say anything at all. "Can I get you anything?"

"Something to drink maybe?"

That was easy enough to organize, there being a jug of water on the table next to his bed. She poured a small amount into it, before glancing at him.
"Is that enough, or would you like some more?"

"A little more," O'dan replied, watching her fill the glass. "I'm pretty thirsty... that sleeping medicine they give me does that."

"It does that to everyone," she said automatically, adding some more water into the glass, before handing it to him.

He took a grateful sip before smiling. "I suppose it does. How are you doing?"

"I'm okay," she said. "My wing, we were lucky. Degrorth and I well, we'd already finished our stint up there, so I was back down here, when, when it happened."

"Good... I'm glad you weren't hurt." He was just glad none of the injured had come to see him yet... he wasn't sure how well his cheerful demeanor would hold up if they did.

"I'm sure you'll get better soon," she said, trying to sound professional.
She may not be that experienced a healer yet, but one thing she had been taught was to keep positive, that seemed to help. "I kind of miss you bossing me around here."

"Well, I'll have more time to do it these days, I imagine," O'dan replied with a grin. "I won't be back in the air for a while... I'll hang around here as long as they'll take me, I suppose."

"You know they'll only be too glad to have you here."

"I hope so." He reached out to pat her on the hand. "I'm sure they're glad to have you as well. What sort of things have you been doing?"

She smiled at the contact, "Drills mainly, and going out on search a little, J'darin spotted that Degrorth has some talent there, so I've been going out with one of the searchriders, just to see if its something they can develop."

"Search, hmm? Do you enjoy it?"

"I do, we found a candidate the other day, and Saryeth agreed with Degrorth that there was something about the girl."

O'dan smiled widely. "That's good, Oria. That's wonderful. But they're not sending you out alone, are you? To the Holds, I mean. Some of those places... well, I wouldn't send a woman to Emerald Falls Hold alone. I don't think much of their idea of safety."

"A'rie has been coming with me." But even that wasn't really ideal. Some of the holders could react badly to a man on a dragon as green as hers.

It was obvious O'dan realized that, because he scowled. "Well, you be careful. I'm not sure I'm up to smacking holder's heads together at the moment, but I'd try it anyway."

She smiled. It was a nice thought, that he cared about her enough to offer the little gallantries like that.

Shifting, O'dan tried to suppress a wince. Even though he'd been told it would take a long time for the pain to reach manageable levels, he'd half hoped that the healers had been exaggerating. Apparently not. "I don't suppose you could hunt up a healer for me, could you darling? I'm not feeling so well."

"I'll fetch the Journeyman for you," she said with a smile.

O'dan caught her hand and gave it a kiss. "Thanks, lovely. I appreciate it."

Despite her time at Dolphin Cove, Oria still blushed at the courtesy. That and the fact that he was still an attractive man, no matter what injuries had Threadfall related injuries he had. She released her hand a little reluctantly, before shooting off to find the Duty Journeyman, but not before one last look.
