Bryvin

As the groups split apart, Relik and the other two men strolled along
the shoreline. "Well you've already seen the docks. The main buildings
are up on the high ground there of course. This way takes us towards
what will be the shipyards, dry docks, and salvage yard." Relik would
allow Kaphrad to guide this part of the tour since shipbuilding was
his area of expertise. These would be his, in a manner of speaking.

"We don't have many ships now, but we'll have quite a few when we're
fully up and running. We have a few in dry docks for repair." Kaphrad
gestured up ahead of them.

Bryvin nodded as he looked carefully at each of the items they pointed
out. "It looks like you're a bit ahead of schedule."

"The woodcrafters, masons, and the like you sent are working on the
buildings. The rest-docks, piers, cranes, winches, and all were built
by our men." Relik was glad for them to have something to do. There
was also a bit of pride in his voice. Never mind that he didn't trust
the others to do a seacrafter's job.

"We're lucky to have hard workers all around," Kaphrad said.

"Excellent," Bryvin said as he strolled along with the two other men.
"And how soon do you project full functionality of your ship building
operation?"

"I'd say between three and six months. Though at this rate it will be
at the shorter end of my estimation," the Hallsecond said.

"Very good," he nodded. "I can use some of my contacts in other Holds
to see if we can find some interested parties to commission a vessel
or two. That should add to your pocket quite nicely." And thereby to
Morin's which was always a plus.

"I've made some inquiries to let folk know we're here and how long it'll be."
Relik had worked at some of the other seaholds in during his career so he
knew a few of the other Lords. As far as he and Kaphrad's other project, he
didn't want to let the feline out of the bag completely yet. "We're working on
something now though so maybe when we work it out, we might be able to do
a bit more."

"I'm sure you have," Bryvin smiled. "But my cousin is Steward at Amber
Hills Hold and while winter is closing in on them right now, I'm sure
come summer they might want for some more dedicated shipping. There's
plenty of time to work those contacts around the Sea of Azov and line
some things up. If you know what I mean." Personally he didn't think
it would hurt the operation to have contracts lined up for Turns in advance.

"Any building contracts are Kaphrad's domain. He runs our shipyards." The
Hallmaster smiled to himself and stepped back, allowing his Hallsecond to
discuss something that would be his responsibility.

"I would be more than happy to have future contracts lined up. Ship
building is my specialty, and I would love for our Hall to begin
earning a reputation for fine vessels." To avoid bragging, Kaphrad
didn't say he wanted to rival the Northern Hall, but that was his
intent.

"Excellent," Bryvin smiled at the Hallsecond. "I can make some
contacts at Amber Hills and Opal Cove. They both have seaports on or
near the Sea of Azov and some rich stands or hard woods as well."

As they continued walking, they passed the shipyards and the rest before
ending up back at the main buildings. "The Cargo Bay is here, with quarters
behind it. The Watchtower is there, as you can see. Then we'll have cots there,
though we may be borrowing crafters from Avian Point or Citrus Bay from time
to time." Relik wouldn't have to house them which was a bonus.

Bryvin thought this was a good management of resources and nodded his
approval. "Well thought out."

"The only other thing that needs to be worked out will be the storage sheds.
The docks will need one, the yards will need one, and we will need storage
here of course for foodstuffs and the like. It's not a priority though
since right now there isn't as much to store." Relik needed housing first.

"First we need to get all our people settled in," Kaphrad said.

"I'll be certain to let Lord Morin know of your needs. We've got several
construction projects going and as they reach their completion stages, we'll be
able to free up some workers to send you."

"That would be most helpful," Relik acknowledged. "Now, I think we all
might be able to have midday meal and see how the women have been getting along."

"Excellent idea," Byrvin smiled. "Lead the way if you will Hallmaster."
