K'mai

K'mai

Earlier that afternoon, Shayla had wondered why Kiranth had been so deeply asleep that she hadn't even roused when Myarth landed on their ledge. And she had wondered why Myarth had been acting so...possessive over the sleeping green, and why he hadn't stayed on their ledge for long.

And now, as Kiranth fanned her bright wings, loudly shrilling her need for males, Shayla didn't have to wonder anymore.

Kiranth was going to rise.

Shards and _shells_! Where was T'voal?

Shayla's face filled with heat as she rushed outside, and everything the other, older greenriders had told her about the experience fled from her mind. All she knew was that she had to get outside.

L'cian was just setting himself to the task of reworking his fighting straps when he heard Kiranth's call and felt Caelyth's response. The straps would have to wait for another way. He immediately abandoned his tools for a more enjoyable passtime.

L'maret was utilizing his free time to write poems, begging for Leora's forgivness when he heard the green's cry. **Who's rising?** He asked Astranith.

}: Kiranth,:{ the brown responded gleefully, }:she's a young one.:{ Knowing that there was no way Astranith would give up the chance to chase, L'maret set his work aside and went off in search of the greenrider, hoping that the rider would turn out to be a female.

Setting his riding straps aside, K'mai asked his dragon, **Who is that?** The name the blue had announced was not immediately familiar to him.

}: Kiranth is young. This is her first flight, and I will catch her!:{ K'mai still could not make a connection. **Oh, well. What better way to meet someone?** he thought as he hurried out of his weyr.

M'galec had just opened the door of the infirmiry when Dwarkanath's lustful declaration stopped him in his tracks. He quickly grabbed the arm of the journeyman near-by. "Here," he said with a voice already reflecting the mounting emotions eminating from his lifemate. "Take these records to Journeyman Dopsened and tell him we will have to reschedule our meeting.
I'm being called away on urgent business."

The bronzerider didn't wait for a reply as he turned around and made his way quickly down the stairs. Thank Faranth he had not been scheduled for any major proceedures that day!

T'voal arrived out of breath and with a dangerous look in his eyes for all of the men gathering around Shayla. Myarth's assurance that no one else could catch Kiranth was hardly reassuring with so many more experienced dragons ready to fling themselves skyward in chase.

He'd never had a weyrmate before, and the scant month they'd spent together wasn't long enough for T'voal to grow comfortable with the idea.
He wasn't ready to share Shayla... not even for a flight. Especially not for her very first one...

On the other side of the crowd, U'val watched his grandson's posessiveness with a weary sigh. T'voal had never shown much of the temper that was so evident in the women of their family, but the old bluerider figured it was better to be on hand just in case T'voal picked now to start.

All these males! For _her_! Kiranth crowed smugly as she suddenly sprang from the ledge, eager to fly. Eager to be chased. Shayla echoed her dragon's cry, her mind lifting with Kiranth's until she was hardly aware of her own body. It was a peculiar sensation, she _knew_ that her body was on the ground, and yet she was high in the skies, soaring, wingless and free.

Caelyth launched into the air after the green; her first flight had begun!
}: I _will_ be the first to catch this jewel! :{ The bronze assured his rider, arrogant as always.

Zackariath launched himself after the green. He was going to catch her this time. His rider took his place among the other man gathered around Shayla. U'das rubbed his bald scalp and sighed. He should be planning drills.

Astranith too launched himself after the green. The small brown knew that his only chance of catching the female was through his agility and a quick start. The other dragons would be faster than himself, and they would have greater stamina, but he would out manouver them all.

Dwarkanath had carefully watched the young green and timed his jump perfectly to hers. He had known that for his size, without a quick start he would be lost against smaller and faster dragons. But this bronze had two things working for him, strength and experience, and he was determined to use both to his advantage as he beat his wings skyward.

Kiranth shrieked, overcome by the feelings roiling in her. She flew faster, soared higher - certainly this was the highest she had ever ventured! The winds weren't as thick and gusty here. The air was thinner, caressing her hide as she spun over the sea. It was clear that she wasn't experienced, but she had her fun teasing the virile ones who chased her.

Zack stayed after the green easily, being veteran of many greenflights.
The way she was flying she would tire soon, and then a clever bronze like him was going to catch her.

Using speed and agility to his advantage, Sebeth arrowed after the green.
He called out to her as he drew closer, boldly proclaiming himself the best even as he flew between two bronzes.

T'voal's posessiveness had infected his dragon, and Myarth struggled to edge out his competition as Kiranth goaded her suitors on. He and T'voal had won greens before, but this was different. Kiranth's rider belonged to T'voal, and no clever bronze or agile blue was going to take victory from them!

With another cry, Kiranth wheeled and dove, then soared up again. Energy burned in her, scraping at her raw desire. She didn't know _what_ she wanted. Restless, she shrieked again, but this time, a plaintive note could be heard as she folded her wings, dropping lower.

Astranith dropped too, weaving his way between two bronzes, trying to inch his way closer to the green, and victory.

Zackariath took last of his strenght-reserves to use and gained the green.
}: Come to me, beautiful, choose me,:{ he called her.

And so the lusty males bugled to her, promising pleasure. Kiranth's mind was awhirl with desire, her body burning with need. Risking a look behind her, she surveyed those who chased. She must choose! Screaming, she dove between two of the males who were following more closely, dropping just below them. One of them was quicker, swerving and then dipping to take the glistening green beauty as his own.

Shayla echoed her dragon's scream as hard arms caught her, bringing her up against him. Then everything faded but the man who was crushing her to his body, and the dragon-passion between them that needed to be spent.
