Pierka had on a new set of maternity clothing for the first time and
she was more comfortable than she'd been in weeks. For one thing her
waistband didn't dig into her belly or under her belly and the top
wasn't straining across her shoulder blades.

She picked up her tray and turned from the buffett looking around for
a table. Then she spotted Z'ku and made straight for him. "Hey there,"
she smiled when she got close. "Room for me?"

"Of course." He returned the smile. "How are you?"

"Good," she smiled. "I'll be moving to an inside weyr nearer the
ground soon." That made her happy. It wasn't hard to get up on Liddith
right now but it wasn't as easy as it had been the month before and it
was only going to get worse.

"Ah, that should make things easier for you. I'll have to come visit
when you're unpacked." He enjoyed spending time with her and any
excuse for a visit was a good excuse.

"That would be great," she smiled. She knew Qorri would have
everything taken care of but the packing of it was all up to her.
"It's right near the Dining hall, you know that corridor on the right
and up the stairs?"

"Oh, yes. That close, huh? It will make things convenient whenever you
need a snack."

She chuckled. "No, that's _you_ silly." Then she blinked and smiled
stroking her belly. "It moved." Pierka turned toward Z'ku. "Want to
feel?"

He straightened, eyes widening. "Oh, of course." Z'ku reached a hand
out, but hesitated. "Are you sure it's okay?"

"Oh sure," she said and her brows twitched together. "Here," she said
and reached for his hand to put it on her side where she'd just felt
the strongest kick. "Right there."

Still feeling awkward, he pressed his hand against her. A sharp
movement surprised him. "Oh, I felt that!" He remembered his mother
being pregnant with his younger siblings but it had been turns since
he'd felt something like this. "I can't imagine what that must be like
going on inside your own belly."

"It's strange. At first it just felt like flutters but now it really
moves and kicks." She smiled a little bit of a possessive smile.

"Have you thought of names yet?"

"Not yet," she said. "Maybe you can help me?"

His brow wrinkled as he thought. "Well, I don't know how good I'll be
at it. I suppose you want T'nom's name in there." He tried not to make
a face.

She didn't snort even though she felt like it. "Oh I don't know," she
said. "Maybe that's why I haven't tried to pick anything yet." She'd
hoped he wanted to be more involved than he was but it hadn't
materialized no matter how earnest he'd seemed when they'd talked.

She shrugged. "Maybe I'll just wait to see how things are when the
baby is born," she half smiled. Then she looked speculatively at Z'ku.
You've been the friend I've needed these months," she said softly. "I
can't thank you enough for the support."

The bronzerider smiled and ducked his head. "It felt like we should
stick together."

"Yeah," she said with a sad smile. "I'm here for you too if you need anything."

"Thanks." He remembered his food, which was getting cold, and he took
a few bites. A little part of him wished the baby was his. Not that he
was in love with her or anything, but it would be easier if T'nom
didn't have to be involved at all.
