With the formalities over, and the dance floor opened up to everyone, it was
then that Oria took the chance. Getting to her feet, she strode over to the
senior weyrling, a smile on her face.

"Dance with me?" she asked.

A smile spread across his face and he took her hand. "Of course," he
said and led her to the floor. He wasn't the best dancer on the floor
by far but he could keep from treading on her toes. Besides, he wanted
her in his arms whenever possible.

"I hope you're enjoying it today," she said by way of making conversation.
"Someday it could be you up there as the clutch sire."

"Aye," he said and reared his head back to look down into her
sparkling green eyes. "But I'd still want to dance with you." He had
thought about it as all of them had been instructed as to the
possibilities and duties in the event it happened. "I think Tonuth's
clutch would be larger though."

"I'm sure it would," she said as she lifted her arms to place them around
him, using the moment to come close. "And I'd want to dance with you too."

"Good," he smiled as they began the steps of the familiar dance. He
concentrated on the steps and not crashing into any other couples on
the floor. "Oh," he said as something occurred to him. "I talked to
Sh'del about going to Emerald Falls to see my Father for his Birthday.
It's just two days away and I can't go alone yet." He looked
suggestively at her. "Can you think of a rider with experience who
could come with me?"

"If you give me a few moments I might be able to come up with a name or
two," she teased gently, even as she continued the steps of the dance. "Now
as it happens, I might just know someone who could find a candlemark or two
of free time that could be used in a supervisory capability."

"Oh good," he said and pulled her against him. "Find her for me please
and tell her I'll recompense her lavishly."

"Now what form would that take?" She wriggled against him, sure she knew the
answer already, but wanting to hear it nonetheless.

"Evil woman," he whispered as his body jumped to conclusions. The
curse of any young man in the throes of first lust set hormones
raging and placed him in a rather awkward state for a public place.
"Now we're going to have to get me off the dancefloor so I can show
you," he grinned. He wasn't in any frame of mind to seek out his
father like he'd planned.

"I think I'd like that," she said returning his grin.

Corowal had noticed his son dancing and the rather intimate way it
turned to be. He grinned, like father like son, seems like this
redfruit had not fallen far from the tree. He also appreciate his
taste, she was quite attractive little thing. Being who he was, he
absolutely had to meet her and perhaps tease him a little. He walked
over. "Can I cut in?" he asked with innocent expression.

**Ok, officially mortified,** he thought and turned toward the voice.
"Sir," he acknowledged as he strove to fight down the rising tide. He
took a deep breath and bowed his head. "Lord Corwal, this is my friend
Oria. She is the rider who searched me at Green Valley. Oria, Lord
Corowal." He separated himself from her after a moment and added. "My
father."

Oria fought to control the blush that threatened to cross her features.
"Pleased to meet you, Sir," she said, dropping a brief curtsey. "L'cor has
spoken of you, Sir."

"_I'm_ pleased to meet you Oria," Corowal replied, taking her hand and
lifting it to his lips.

She did blush at that, she'd thought it an action reserved only for those of
the blood.

Despite his discomfort, L'cor couldn't help but admire the smooth way
his sire addressed Oria so he stepped behind her for a moment more of
recovery and relinquished her to the Lord Holder. "It's good to see
you sir," he nodded.

"It's good to see you too, L'cor. I presume you're doing well with
your training?" Corowal replied.

"Yes sir," he smiled. "So they tell me. Tonuth is healthy and
strong." He nodded.

"Glad to hear. Do you mind if I ask your lady friend to a dance?" Corowal
said and asked. She had a pretty blush, maybe he could get her blush some
more.

Oria glanced to L'cor, wondering what he would say. She could sense all eyes
on them anyway, wondering what was going on, and wondered herself what
people would say after this.

"Not at all," L'cor replied with a small bow. He smiled then at Oria.
"He won't bite," he murmured in her ear before letting her go and
stepping back.

Corowal offered her his hand and led her to a dance. "So, what's the
relationship between you and L'cor?" Corowal asked after they had twirled
around a moment.

That again made her blush, she hadn't expected him to be so direct. "We, I,
my Degrorth searched him, and now, well we're friends, and maybe something
more. I care for him, a lot."

"Nice to hear he's found friends. Be careful though, he's very young...and
he's my son. Someone might get heart broken," Corowal replied. He wasn't
sure himself who would break a heart, she or L'cor. If L'cor took after him,
one woman wouldn't be enough on a long run.

"I think we can work things out, I may not be weyrbred, but I've been here
long enough to know how things work, and that green of mine can have ideas
of her own at times," she said after a few more beats of the music. "You
have to live for the moment."

L'cor watched warily from the edge of the dancefloor as his father
guided Oria expertly around the floor. He wasn't precisely worried and
though he couldn't hear their conversation he almost held his breath
hoping they would like each other.

"Well, that's a good attitude in life. I wish you two luck and happiness,"
Corowal said approvingly. The music came to an end and Corowal gave his
partner a bow before escorting her back to L'cor. "Thank you for the dance,
it was pleasant."

"Thank you, Sir. I can see where L'cor learned to dance." The blush had
become a smile by now.

L'cor stepped back onto the floor and hurried to where his father and
Oria had stopped. Noting Corowal's pleased expression and Oria's smile
he added his own as he slipped his arm around her waist. "Have fun,"
he asked.

"I did," she said, leaning into the bronzerider and looking up to turn the
smile on him. "Your father is a good dancer."

"Thank you. I leave you two alone now, and go to see if I can get the
Weyrwoman to dance with me," Corowal replied.

L'cor watched his father charm his way across the floor and then
scooped an arm around Oria's waist. "Run away with me so there are no
more interruptions," he whispered in her ear.

"Your weyr or mine?"

"Mine," he said. "It's closer." He added a waggle of his eyebrows to his
grin.
