Y'sani gave the door in front of him a brief knock before sticking his head inside with a friendly smile for the bronzerider on the other side. "M'kel, isn't it? Do you have a moment?"
"Yes, aaaaand yes," M'kel responded looking up from his paper work. He still wasn't used to having an office and was amused by people sticking their heads in. "do come in, how can I help youuuu...." and his voice trailed off. He didn't recognize the rider so his eyes jumped to his knots. "Oh, the new Weyrlingmaster?"
"Y'sani," his visitor supplied with a grin, coming inside. "I thought I'd take a few moments to introduce myself. I've been trying to meet all the wingleaders."
"Y'sani, pleasure to make your acquaintance. Its good to put a face to the name. Will you have a seat?" M'kel said as he stood motioning the Weyrlingmaster in.
"Of course." Y'sani took a seat, well pleased to be out of his office. He had to find a competent wingsecond soon, before he went crazy from the demands of organizing sharding hidework. "I hear you're new to your position as well. Congratulations."
"Yes, Thank you. The position is still taking a bit of getting used to."
M'kel said with a thoughtful nod. "At least I wasn't transferring at the same time though. How are you liking it at dolphins Cove?"
"It seems like a nice place," Y'sani replied honestly. "I just wish I hadn't arrived here when it was still suffering so much from tragedy."
"Recovery takes time," M'kel replied with a length sigh. He was honored to be named wingleader, but the circumstances that lead to an untried bronze going straight to wingleader were quite frightening.
"It always does. But J'darin has good men to help him along." Y'sani leaned forward. "Now, I don't know if you've gotten a chance to look the weyrlings over, but the senior class is going to graduate soon."
"I had heard that Y'sani, but thanks for coming in. I will need to take a look at the senior class. I barely recognize the weyrlings I've been in the infirmary for so long," he joked, although it was partially true. The riders were growing up quite a bit since the Threadfall accident.
"I'd like to see if you can schedule a time to come and watch the weyrlings during our drills," Y'sani continued seriously. "I don't know if this has been the habit at Dolphin Cove so far, but I intend for it to become tradition. Afterwards, we can discuss the strengths of the weyrlings and where they might fit into your wing. I find that placing them well is almost as important as training. A rider learns a lot from his first wingleader."
"I agree whole heartedly. Unfortunately I also do not know if this was the usual behavior of the past. Its been quite a while since I graduated into the wings." He said, shaking his head a bit, trying to recall those memories. Of course weyrling training was much more different in the past few turns since thread began to fall again.
Y'sani grinned. "It's been longer than I care to think about since _I_
graduated into the wings. And a lot has changed since then.... But that's not the point. Let me know when you've got time free, and you can come down and watch. Discretely would be best, though... I'd rather not have to deal with the weyrlings showing off."
M'kel laughed. "I hadn't even thought of that. Yes I'll be sure to be discrete. Well then, lets take a look at my schedule," he said, as he began rattling off free times to Y'sani.
Once they'd agreed on a time, Y'sani rose to his feet and offered his hand to M'kel. "It was good to meet you, M'kel. And I look forward to discussing the weyrlings with you!"
"Yes, so do I Y'sani," M'kel said, mirroring the Weyrlingmaster's movement and pumping his arm.
