T'nom

T'nom

"No, I'm _glad_ you opened up to me. But it just seems like there's
more than one issue here and I want to address them both because I don't
want to leave things unresolved." Meledei's voice cracked as her own
resolve was beginning to fail her. She hated the fighting, she just
wanted to come to some sort of understanding but it seemed like the more
she tried, the more she made things worse. "I'm just...confused."

He blew out another frustrated breath. "I don't know how else to
explain things. I don't know what's so confusing." He honestly was
lost. He'd done nearly all the talking today and still she was
confused? "What are you confused about Meledei? I don't understand.
You're going to have to tell me."

"I don't want you to get mad at me again." Meledei admitted. "I want
you tell me everything that's bothering you. When you came here, I
thought we were going to talk about what happened yesterday. Instead,
we talked about something different. I'm glad that we did though!" She
added hastily, "Because if something's bothering one of us, we _need_ to
talk about it. I just...it feels like the anger and frustration we had
yesterday hasn't been resolved because we discussed a completely
different issue. Does that make sense?"

"O-kay," he replied slowly, hoping he understood. It felt like they
were talking in circles.

"So, I already shared all that other stuff, you don't need me to go
through it all again, do you?" He asked uncertainly. She wanted to
hear everything that was bothering him. He thought that was what he
_had_ been doing.

Meledei had been trying to keep it together, but she just suddenly burst
into tears. She was tired of running around and fighting. She just
wanted to be friends again. She didn't want to push T'nom away and even
though she felt like there were things they hadn't resolved, she was
afraid of pushing him away just like she had Z'ku and R'ehn. "I
just...I'm just tired of fighting."

He actually raised his hands up at her surprising burst of tears. He
didn't know what to do. Before the fight, he would have taken her into
his arms and soothed her, but it still felt like things were
unresolved between them. It had been going well, he'd thought, and
then they'd ended up talking over things in circles. He was utterly
flabbergasted.

"Um, don't cry Meledei. I don't want to fight either," he reached a
hand out to her, but didn't do more than try and pat her shoulder. He
was afraid she'd bulk if he tried to do more. He was so confused he
didn't know if he _should_ try and hold her or not.

"But...but it still feels like there's..._stuff_ between us and I don't
like it." Meledei wanted that familiarity, that closeness they had before
the blow up. Why couldn't they just go back to that?

He blew out a frustrated breath. "I don't know what else to do,
Meledei. I don't like it any better than you do, but I don't know what
to do!" He let out an agonized sound. He didn't want to hurt her, but
he was truly not sure how to make things better right now.

"I'm sorry! For everything!" Would that make it better? Meledei didn't
know. And to be honest, she felt like she wasn't the only one at fault,
but at the moment she didn't care. She just wanted tings to be right.

"Okay, okay," he said, this time more soothingly. He did more closer
to her on the sofa and pull her into his arms. "Shh. It's okay. I
don't want you to be upset. I'm sorry too, Meledei. I truly am."

His touch helped - a lot. Meledei curled into him and encircled him
with her own arms. She held him tight. Things might not be resolved,
but they were at least at something of an understanding. They were
still together, still friends, and for the moment, that was enough.
