So She's Gone

It was raining outside, the water from the sky fell down steadily and
then streamed down the cliff face of the Weyr. The gray sky made
everything seem a little muted, which was alright with T'aesh, it
matched his mood,

He sat in the back of his weyr, leaning against his drowsing brown
dragon. He had just heard that Janani had taken a transfer to another
Weyr. As much as the young dragonrider knew that this news effected
everyone, he couldn't help but take it as a personal affront. Through
all the trouble he had been in before Impression, he couldn't help but
feel that Janani had been in his corner. Instead of yelling at him,
and refusing him the opportunity to Stand, she had sympathized with
the emotional dragonhealer apprentice, and helped him overcome his
jealousy issues. And now, without so much as a blink in his
direction, she was gone.

Of course Janani, nor Angdelouth owed the young dragonrider anything.
They were queen and rider, he was just a weyrling to a brown, but
still, T'aesh had though that there had been some connection, some
form of friendship. It wasn't like he was trying to replace his
mother with Janani, he loved his mother, and every other woman in the
Weyr who had performed maternal duties for him, when his birth mother
couldn't.

"Maybe I'm just being stupid, she has the right to do whatever she
wants" T'aesh said aloud, with a huff.

}: You are not stupid, but you are giving this too much thought.
Angdelouth and hers did what they felt best :{ Raisheth said drowsily.

"Yeah but, without Janani, I might not have been allowed on the Sands
when you hatched. Then what would've happened? She is the entire
reason I'm a rider, and not an overly jealous apprentice, running
around griping at any and everyone who had ever Impressed" T'aesh
tried to explain to his brown lifemate.

}: Not true :{ Raisheth responded in his matter of fact tone. }: You
are a rider because you were meant for me. :{

"But what if I hadn't been there?" the young rider asked, still in a
bit of a funk.

}: I would have found you :{ the brown dragon replied, closing all of
his eyelids, no longer interested in the conversation.

T'aesh leaned back unto the dragons side, and began closing his eyes,
letting the sound of the rain lull him to sleep as well. "She still
coulda said bye" he mumbled before drifting off.

Raisheth decided not to entertain that with a reply.
