Beach Time Flirts

Writers: KC Free, Chelle
Date Posted: 24th March 2012

Characters: T'aesh, Cassini
Description: T'aesh meets a candidate and has a little fun
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 6, day 10 of Turn 6
Notes: Mentioned: Meledei

It was the middle of the afternoon and so hot outside so Cassini had
decided to go for a swim. The candidate had finished her take away
assignments and was now ready to spend the rest of the restday having
fun. Her blonde tresses glowed with the sun's reflection as she set
down her towel and then headed into the water. There were people
further down the beach, but she wasn't too far from the Weyr.

T'aesh strolled along the beach, bare chest and barefoot. He had been
enjoying the beautiful weather, and his break from weyrling training
to take a swim. His young brown dragon Raisheth was still cavorting
in the water with some of the other dragons, but T'aesh had enough
swimming for a while. As he walked, he saw a young girl in the water,
a little ways away from everyone else. T'aesh didn't recognize her,
but still he waved to her instead of just walking on.

She saw the wave and waved back automatically, though she did wonder
who it was. She stayed in the water, not wanting to go to the shore. Cassini
knew if it was someone who wanted to speak to her, they'd come out.

T'aesh squinted trying to figure out who the girl was.

}: She is here for Elleth's clutch :{ Raisheth informed his rider.

The young brownrider smiled, and decided to wade into the water,
always interested in meeting candidates. He let the water come up to
his thigh, and waved again, hoping the young woman would come to meet
him.

Well, maybe she was in trouble. Perhaps she was needed back at the weyr,
though she didn't know why they would send a rider to get her. The boy was
a rider, for sure. She approached him, swimming and wading until she was
just a ways from him. "I'm sorry, was I needed then?"

T'aesh shook his head, then grinned. "No, and I'm sorry to have
disturbed you. Curiosity got the best of me I guess," he told her.

"Raisheth, my brown, told me you were a candidate, so I decided to
introduce myself. I'm T'aesh."

When she determined that he was a rider, albeit a weyrling, and he wasn't
going to ruin her freetime, she was a bit nicer. She came toward him.
"Pleased to meet you. I'm Cassini."

"Well met Cassini. How long have you been at the Weyr? Where'd you
come from?" T'aesh asked rapid fire. He was always interested in the
candidates that didn't come from the Weyr, but were instead Searched
by one of the dragons with that peculiar ability to tell what young
men and women might make good riders. Besides, making conversation on
a nice day with a not too bad looking girl was never a chore.

"A few turns now," she answered, thinking about when she had first come.
"I came over from the healer hall. My parents are still there." She
continued to look at him, wondering how many of those awful heavy
sacks he lugged
everyday. He could probably toss her easily. "Where did you come from?"

"Been here at the Weyr my whole life. I don't think I've actually
ever left it. But that'll all change once Raisheth and I graduate," he
said grinning. His life had been all about the Weyr, and like most
weyrbrats he wasn't too interested in any other way of life. Being a
rider meant that now, his life was about protecting Pern, and maybe he
should start seeing some sights outside of the Weyr's territory. "I'm
something of a healer myself," he continued, "a dragonhealer apprentice
that is."

"Oh well that's different. I wasn't an apprentice, though, I just grew up
there. They don't have female apprentices." She'd noticed the weyrfolk didn't
understand that much. "What do you mean? When you graduate, are you
leaving?"

T'aesh laughed and began to splash some water on his shoulders. The
feeling of being cool and wet below the waist and hot and dry above
was weird and a little uncomfortable. "No I'm not leaving. I just
mean once Raisheth and I graduate to the fighting wings, we'll be able
to go anywhere, when we aren't fighting Thread, or resting from
fighting Thread," he informed her.

"Oh well that's true, though I think you can do some of that on your
free time before graduation. You have to learn your recognition points
after all." She
came closer to him, dipping a hand into the water before bringing it to rest
on his shoulder. "You should squat down into the water. It's nice and cool."

T'aesh nodded and did as she suggested, feeling much better as the cool
water covered him up to his chest. "Yeah we've learned our
recognition points, but it's not the same. That's for work, I'm
talking about leaving just to leave. My father, sometimes he and his
brown just fly in one direction, with no destination in mind. Just to
fly and be free. That's what I'm talking about, I can't wait till me
and Raisheth can do that," the young brownrider informed Cassini, his
eyes sparkling just thinking about it.

"Hmm maybe someday that'll happen for me." Until then, she wasn't too
worried about it. He was fit, she couldn't help but noticing. Cassini pulled
her body down into the water as well, her bathing suit soaking it up. "Do
you swim a lot?"

"Not really." T'aesh said, shaking his head. "I like the water, but
I'm not a regular swimmer. I just like coming to the beach, when I
have the time. Before I was too busy with craft lessons and hauling
buckets of numbweed during Falls to come down, and now, if I'm not in
weyrling training, I'm too tired to do much else."

"You should. I hear it helps relax you and strengthen your muscles."
Plus it helped her tan. "Have any friends?" she asked nonchalantly.

"Yeah, a couple," he answered. "Being with the other weyrlings, you
form ties and whatnot. And Meledei and I are friends, though we
weren't for a while, but that's basically patched up now" and he was
quite glad about that. "And of course, there is Raisheth, he's closer
than a friend."

The goldrider-she should have known. Still, there was nothing said that
the girl had found herself a mate really. So friends it was. Reaching out,
she touched his chest, but she didn't stop there. "A nice young brownrider
like you should have plenty of friends. Are you very friendly, T'aesh?"

T'aesh jumped at her touch, but didn't jerk away. He just wasn't
expecting that at all. He looked down at where her hand rested on his
chest and then looked at her, a knowing grin creeping across his face.
"It depends on who wants to be my friend Cassini." Though he was
trying to act cool, the young brownrider was quite happy that his
lower half was beneath the waves.

"Oh? Well tell me what they would have to do to be your friend?" Her
hand moved to his shoulder where it stayed before moving to his neck.
She herself came a bit closer, grateful for the tan she'd been working on.

T'aesh flashed a mischievous and toothy grin and leaned in closer
to the very comely Cassini. "What you're doing is working for
starters," he growled, close to her neck.

"Maybe you need a kiss," she teased, though she did back it up with
an actual kiss, to his cheek.

"Yes I think that may be exactly what I need, kisses," he said before
he stole a kiss of his own.

Cassini liked a man that took initiative. Craftbred she might have been,
but she was all weyrgirl now. Returning the kiss, she used the water to
bring herself against him. When she was done, she brought her face back
to look at him. "Can I be your friend then?"

"I can always use more friends" T'aesh said leaning back in the water,
taking Cassini's full measure. Raisheth was almost fully mature, and
the young brownrider had been taken off of romantic restrictions
sevendays ago.
