Description: Cyradis has a meeting with T'aesh.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 6, day 26 of Turn 6
Notes: Mentor Approved
Cyradis had met with most of the bronze riders and some of the brown.
In her perusal of the records she found a notation from the Weyrwoman
that puzzled and concerned her. **Panitath, can you please ask
Raisheth if his can join me in my office when they're done with their
classes for the day?** She didn't want to interrupt the weyrling's
training but she felt the need to speak with the young man.
Luckily T'aesh wasn't training, but was just grabbing a bit to eat
when Raisheth informed him that the Weyr's new goldrider wanted to see
him. The young brownrider quickly wolfed down his lunch before
heading to her office. He had a little time before his next set of
drills, and he'd been wanting to meet the new resident of the Weyr
himself. T'aesh tapped lightly on her door at the same time he asked
Raisheth to pass on the word that he had arrived.
"Come in," Cyradis contralto called out. She fixed a pleasant
expression on her face reserving her judgement until she talked to the
young man.
T'aesh opened the door to the goldriders office and stepped in,
grinning that signature grin of his, laughter dancing in his eyes.
This was his first time meeting Cyradis, though he had heard about her
arrival from Weyr residents and Raisheth. He was just a little
puzzled when Raisheth delivered her summons, thinking she would want
to meet the whole weyrling class together, but still he was happy.
Cyradis greeted the twinkle in the young brownrider's eyes with one of
her own. "Good afternoon brownrider," she smiled and waved him toward
a chair. She realized he'd be on his best behavior for meeting a new
goldrider but she wasn't here to judge, well not for the moment.
"How are you two settling in to your training?"
T'aesh sat down, and looked around the office a bit, before answer.
"Everything is going great. Raisheth and I are getting along fine...I
think" T'aesh said. He really didn't have any previous experience to
compare weyrling training to, but he didn't think he was doing too
bad.
"That's good to hear," she smiled. Brown usually meant a well adjusted
and competent rider and she was hoping the adage held true. Panitath
seemed to be of the opinion that she should grant him the benefit of
the doubt.
"So how many times did you Stand before Raisheth found you?"
T'aesh was caught off guard by the question. Since Impressing he
never really thought about all the Hatchings that had come and gone
before Raisheth finally arrived.
"To be honest with you Cyradis, I don't truly remember exactly how
many." T'aesh replied, for once able to talk about those bitter Turns,
without that bitterness creeping into his voice. "I started Standing
when I made junior apprentice dragon healer, and I couldn't advance in
the Craft unti I Impressed, so I remained at that rank for a while.
I'd say about every Hatching from the time I was fourteen I was a
Candidate for, and I Impressed Raisheth in my seventeenth Turn"
"That can be an eternity for a young person," she sympathized. "Do you
plan to continue your dragonhealing?"
T'aesh nodded to the queenrider "Yes I do, as far as I can go" he
informed her. With all his weyrling training, the young brownrider
hadn't been able to do much craft work. As soon as time allowed, he
planned on going back to his craft lessons. Dragonhealing was his
passion, and ultimately it was the thing that brought he and Raisheth
together. Although it took many Turns to Impress, T'aesh was
satisfied with how things turned out.
"That's great to hear," she said making a note. "We need all the
dragonhealers we can get." She leaned forward and as she did Shadow
glided in through the door to land on the back of her chair and rub
his head against the side of her face. "Hello stinker," she said
giving him a little scritch.
T'aesh smiled when the brown firelizard entered the room. The young
rider had never owned one of the miniature dragons, but he had always
appreciated their antics. They seemed to be very playful, and T'aesh
always appreciated a good laugh. "Yeah" he said responding to Cyradis
"I plan on doing my best, for the Weyr."
"That," she said with a smile. "Is very good news." She didn't feel
the need to question him further about the incident with Meledei from
what she had seen of the brownrider, whatever had happened prior to
impression had been 'adjusted' by his connection with his lifemate.
She would, however, keep an eye on this one for the time being.
She stood and reached out her hand. That disturbed Shadow but he
simply hopped to the table and spread himself across her hides. "It's
very good to have met you T'aesh. I hope your training goes equally
well and you join the fighting wings soon."
T'aesh shook the Weyr's newest queenrider's hand and gave her a
genuine smile. "It was great meeting you too Cyradis, and thank you"
he said before giving her a little bow and a laugh at the firelizard
before exiting the office.
