"Your brother told me this is where you live now," Traelyn said with a wide grin as she stuck her head around the door to O'dan's weyr.
"Talking to my brother again, were you?" O'dan drawled, waving her inside.
He was sitting up, which was certainly progress, though his injured leg had been stretched out on the couch and a mound of pillows kept him from moving too far to either side. "He's gone off to find dinner for us... he burried me under pillows first, though, so that I couldn't move while he was gone. I don't think he trusts me."
"Mmm. Maybe he has a good reason not to?" Her expression was impish as she sat down in one of the chairs beside him.
"I can't _imagine_ what that would be!" O'dan did his best to give her an innocent look, but it fell far short.
"With that wicked gleam in your eye, no _wonder_ Dantial is suspicious!" She shook her head, feigning disappointment. "What you put him through, I can only imagine, O'dan."
"Isn't that a brother's duty?" O'dan leaned towards her, ignoring the twinge from his leg. "Come on, Traelyn. Admit it. You wouldn't like me nearly so much if I weren't such a wicked, wicked man."
She grinned at him as she leaned forward a bit, resting her elbows on her knees. "Wouldn't you just _love_ it if I told you that's exactly how I feel?"
"I'd love it more if you were sitting next to me," he replied lightly, patting the empty spot. "Surely you can be nice to a poor, tired old bronzerider and make it easier for him to leer at you?"
"Just as long as leering is the only thing he'll do." She gave him the barest of winks as she rose and settled herself beside him. "You're still recovering. And we can't have you strain anything now, can we?"
O'dan reached behind her and dropped an arm over her shoulder with a grin.
"Normally I'd say it wouldn't be a strain, but I think you might just be delicious enough to make me overwork myself, Weyrwoman. I suppose I'll have to settle for my illicit fantasies."
**Shameless!** "Mmm..." Her dark eyes flickered as she turned them on him. "Maybe one day, O'dan. But you've got to behave, remember?"
"I didn't say I'd behave in my _thoughts_," he protested, giving her his most innocent grin--which wasn't very innocent at all. "Really, I'm injured, not _dead_!"
His grin was infectuous. "Well I'm glad to hear _that_, bronzerider!"
O'dan behaved for the most part, though his fingers were tracing idle patterns against her shoulder as he relaxed back into the couch. "So, now that we're comfortable, tell me what's been going on in the Weyr while I've been stuck here."
"Well, you missed the Harper festivities. That was pretty big around here." Trae relaxed a bit more back into the cushions, rather enjoying those fingers trailing against her shoulder.
"Yes, I bullied Dantial into going to the welcome party..." O'dan rolled his eyes. "I was _hoping_ he'd make a friend and stop hovering, but he didn't seem to enjoy it much."
She glanced at him. "How come?"
"My brother isn't very social..." His fingers found her neck, rubbing gently at the tense muscles. "I think he finds weyrfolk a little intimidating still. Hopefully he'll loosen up a bit."
"We're not all so bad," she smiled with a sigh, her head rolling slowly to one side as she let his fingers keep on massaging. "Well...at least some of us aren't."
"Hey now..." He tickled the base of her neck. "You wouldn't be speaking of _me_ would you? When I'm being so nice and gentlemanly..." Not that he had particuarly gentlemanly motives... the skin of her neck was soft and terribly tempting under his fingers.
Her head tilted back to hold his fingers still against her skin and she gave him a teasing, knowing look, her eyes half-lidded. "I have yet to see you act 'nice and _gentlemanly_', O'dan."
"Well... I was speaking relatively." He leaned closer, his lips next to her ear. "I'll have you know, this is my _best_ behavior. Or at least my most gentlemanly."
"So only half-seducing a woman is your 'most gentlemanly' behavior?" She was grinning, enjoying the banter - and enjoying his sharding, tickling, warm breath against the sensitive flesh just below her ear.
"My poor Weyrwoman..." O'dan pulled back and grinned at her. "If _this_ is half a seduction, you've been spending time with some seriously undedicated men. Or unskilled."
"So you compare yourself with them, then?" she asked, playing on his arrogance.
"Only when I'm bedridden," he replied easily. "Once I'm better... well, then no one compares, love."
"Don't be too cocky yet, O'dan," Trae grinned. "Before you do anything, you might want to...build up your stamina again? _Then_ you might compare."
His thumb stroked the side of her neck as he smiled lazily at her in return. "My poor little goldrider. You have no idea what you're getting yourself into, do you?"
"What's that supposed to mean?"
O'dan shook his head. "It'll be _so_ much more fun if you find out on your own."
A brow rose. "You think so, do you?"
She wasn't protesting, so he let his fingers slip... not down, like she might expect, but up into her hair. He let his fingers massage her scalp slowly, figuring out quickly enough where his touch was most effective.
Oh....shards. Her eyes closed of their own volition, her lips parting just slightly as his fingers moved against her. That felt so sharding good... Trae could feel herself beginning to relax, could feel herself sinking into the cushions of his couch. "Mmmmm...."
He chuckled, his breath warm against her ear. "And that's just your head..." He was going to have fun with the new Weyrwoman... and not just because she was so nice to look at. Thinking about how much it would annoy J'darin was almost as exciting as thinking about the things he could do to Traelyn once he got his leg working again.
Shards...but this was feeling so sharding good... She tipped her head so that the tip of her nose brushed lightly against his lips, her eyes flickering darkly when they lifted to his.
Oh, this was going to be too easy. O'dan ignored the slight twinge from his side and sank his other hand into her hair as well, tilting her head back until his lips were just above hers. Then... "And here I thought you wanted to wait."
Her eyes snapped open to look at him and his amused, arrogant expression. That particular look in his sharding eyes made her temper flare. "Oh, you're a sharding _arse_ - that's what you are," she snarled, moving abruptly as she jarringly shoved him away from her.
Any smart reply he might have managed was lost as he tried to catch his breath, admitting that perhaps he should have thought of the fact that part of his body was still painful to move before provoking the new Weyrwoman. But as the pain faded his grin returned, though slightly less smug. "Come on, you wouldn't have liked it if it had been _that_ easy."
She was on her feet, her fists planted on her hips as she glared down at him. "You seem to presume quite a bit, bronzerider."
He stuck his lower lip out and gave her big, sad eyes. "You don't like me anymore."
She ground her teeth, torn between wanting to laugh and wanting to snarl some more at him. She chose the latter. "Not right now, no." Her upper lip curled. "Ask me again in a couple days, and if I'm feeling generous, I might change that answer around."
"So you're coming back to visit me in a couple of days?" he asked, letting his pathetic expression change to hopeful.
Oh, he was sharding impossible! "If you're lucky!" she growled before turning on her heel. Once she reached his door, she paused, glancing over her shoulder at him. "Say hello to your brother for me." That hint of a snarl was still there in her voice, but it certainly wasn't directed at Dantial!
