T'aesh was finally able to pull himself away from the stuffed and
sleeping brown Raisheth. He knew that there was feasting going on in
celebration of the Hatching, and he could hear the harpers' music, but
he just wanted to stare at this brown miracle. But there were people
he wanted to see, and people he knew would want to see him, so he
decided to go and make his rounds as quickly as possible.

As he left the weyrling barracks for the food and dancing, the first
person he came across was the Headwoman. T'aesh smiled fondly at her,
remembering the advice and kind words she had for him. Qorri was
definitely someone he wanted to see.

"Hello Headwoman," he said, smiling brightly at her.

She turned, not recognizing the voice immediately. When she saw the boy
and remembered that he had impressed, she smiled. "Of course, I could say
I told you so."

T'aesh gave Qorri a grin made of pride, joy and a little embarrassment.
"That you could," T'aesh said. "And I wouldn't mind one bit if you did."
He then extended his arm out to her. "Allow a new brownrider to escort
you to your table?" he asked.

"Oh no, dear. I'm still working. Thank you though. I'm sure you're hungry,
however." She gestured to the feast tables. "It's going to be an early
morning for you tomorrow. I suggest you eat and celebrate quick and
get some rest."

T'aesh nodded at Qorri's words, though resting was the last thing on his
mind. He was quite sure he would spend this entire night, curled up next to

his Raisheth basking in the after glow of being Impressed. He leaned down
to plant a kiss on Qorri's cheek, blushing only slightly. "Thank you
again," he said.

"You're welcome. I wish you well during your weyrlinghood. Keep your head
out of the dirt and listen to your teachers. You'll be fine." Her mind
was already thinking. He had about the right turns. Once he'd gotten
himself trained, he
might be the sort to spend time with. "Did you know any of your classmates?"

"T'nom and I have stood together a number of times, the others I don't
really know," T'aesh informed the Headwoman, smiling at the fact that
both he and T'nom Impressed at the same Hatching.

"Hmm..hopefully we'll have more weyrbrats the next time." Qorri loved the
bratlings and even fostered some of them herself from time to time.

T'aesh smiled at remembered adventures from his not too long ago youth
with the other weyrbrats. True to form, T'aesh, like the rest of the
Weyr kids, was raised by everyone in the Weyr, and he wouldn't change
that upbringing for a thing.

"As soon as Raisheth and I can take to the skies, you have to give us
the honor of being our first passenger," T'aesh said smiling. Riding
a dragon was probably no spectacular event for Qorri, but T'aesh felt
that he needed to do something for her, to repay her support and kind
words.

"I'll be honored." She reached up and pinched his cheek. "You did good
today. Your life has changed and you're a new person. Don't forget what you've
learned. Go on and see the others since you won't have much time. You _will_ be
up early."

T'aesh smiled brightly and nodded. There were a few other people he
wanted to speak with before retiring for the night. He hugged the
Headwoman, silently thanking her again before turning toward the feast
to find his friend T'nom and the Weyrwoman.
