Oria

Oria

With the infirmary quite full still, from the incident, Odarian was continued pulling some weird hours. **Here I am, up late again,** he thought, deciding to do some inventory to pass the time. But he was fidgety and before he was done began treading quietly to check on the paitents. "There must be someone else on this shift," he said, looking around. "Maybe with one of the paitents."

With only light duties scheduled for the next day, Oria had volunteered to cover for one of the other healers who wanted to have dinner with his weyrmate. Something about it being her birthingday and he'd missed the last one. She wasn't sure how much of it was just a need to avoid part of the night shift, or a genuine wish to be with someone.

She sighed as she put the notes back down, something said it could be a long night.

Odarian hadn't found anyone when he checked up on the paitents, but at least they all seemed to be doing well. **Seems I got the place to myself** he thought resigned as he returned to the storage area.
Thats when he saw Oria and his expression brightened immensily.

"Oria!" he said with a wicked smile, "You've come to keep a me company! How thoughtful."

She laughed lightly. "You and these notes that needed copying. I got conned into covering a few candlemarlks of Reqard's shift. Something about Julla's birthingday..."

"Ahh Reqard's shift!" he said, as if that made all the sense in the world. "Well," he said, taking a seat, "I won't say otherwise about Julla's birthingday or not because you're a heck of a lot more pleasant the Reqard, any day."

"Why thank you," she said, rewarding the compliment with a smile.

"So what are those notes your working on there," Odarian said, bringing his chair around to look over her shoulder.

"Keeping files up to date. Patient records and all that." She gave a mock groan. "Requard's handwriting is lousy, this must be why he persuaded me to do this. I can't read some of the things he's written."

"Hmm, let me try," Odarian said, reaching around her to take a look.
"Shards, thats little more then a scribble." He sighed. "We're gonna have to drag him in later to decipher this I think."

"If he's in any state to read it."

Odarian snorted. "Well, maybe it can wait a day, at the least. I'll wake him up first thing in the morning, if you think its necessary,"
Odarian offered.

"Be careful if you do that, Julla might have your head on a plate!"

He rolled his eyes in response. "Ok, looks like we're in a lose lose situation then. None of that stuff was urgent or life threatening I hope?"

The greenrider looked at the pile of hides. "No, just notes on routine physicals. Bet he was in a hurry when he wrote this." She grinned, "His mind will have been elsewhere, definitely."

"He should have found a better time to let his mind wander I guess."
Odarian replied, his mind not completely up to task itself. Maybe pulling the later shift wasn't such a bad thing, as long as there were no emergencies...

"And I bet I know just what was on his mind, or who rather," she said.

Odarian sighed. He wouldn't have brought up the notes at all if Oria would start a single track mind on Reqard and Julla. "Since when did you become such a mind reader Oria?"

"I'm not a mind reader, just the person he spoke to. I'm guessing two and two really does make four in this case."

"Two and two, four? Hmmm," he said, "an intriguing thought."

"Well they do already have one baby," teased Oria, a grin on her face.

"Isn't that one and one equals three then?" Odarian shot right back.

"That was last time..."

Odarian sighed, "Well, four then, I concede," he said raising his hands. "If we're going to gossip like aunties, lets at least talk about a variety of people, if I know Julla, she'd rather not have her life discussed, even if Reqard would."

"That sounds like you know something?"

"Oh, nothing special, some people just don't like gossip. Especially when the object of their affections has been to busy working, and you're stuck caring for a little one. But I guess Reqard taking tonight off should fix that a bit."

"I hope so, and next time he can find another mug."

"OOOoo The switch didn't turn badly. Admit it Oria, I'm not all that bad, hmmm?" he asked.

"I suppose not," she looked up at him and grinned.

"And believe me," he said, giving Oria a deep look, although his tone remained light. "I know I'm quite lucky for the roster switch, and not just because I don't have to listen to Reqard complaining."

"Oh, I'm sure that I can find something to talk about, if you want to that is."

"Yes, please talk, or," Odarian covered a mock yawn, "I'm going to get sleepy, its been a long day."

"I'm sure we can think of something to help us both stay awake," she said lightly, hoping he'd notice her use of 'us'.

"Us, you're right," Odarian responded, definitely liking Oria's tone.
"That would be unfair, leaving you awake, all by your lonesome. I guess, we'll have to keep _each other_ entertained?"

"And I suppose you might know a way to do that?"

"Well, you'll see I'm, open to suggestions," Odarian replied, gently gripping Oria's shoulder, and leaning in, ever so slightly.

She glanced up at his face, making sure she hadn't misunderstood his meaning. "Maybe later, not here. Something tells me those suggestions are not appropriate for patients to hear."

"I might have to hold you to that Oria. But, I think," Odarian said as he moved his seat behind Oria. "Perhaps I can practice some of those massage techniques?"

"They do say practise makes perfect," she said. "And if you expect to advance in the craft?"

"...you will be my willing paitent?" He asked, but did not wait for an answer. Instead he carefully placed his hands on her shoulders, thumbs tenatively searching for any knots in the upper back.

She wriggled appreciatively, enjoying the attention. "You never know."

"I think so," Odarian said, leaning in to whisper in her ear, as he applied more preasure to some of the rougher parts around her shoulder blades.

"That feels soooo good," she whispered.

Odarian was very careful to only practice on Oria's back, although his hands were itching to explore other places. "Maybe I should practice something else then?" he asked as he leaned into Oria quite a bit more, starting again on her shoulders and beginning work on her arms.

"I'm sure there are other things you could practise, but not here," she said. "When do you get off shift?"

"Bout a candlemark after dinner's over," he said, moving his hands to do some work on her neck.

"Then perhaps we should continue this later, in private."

The waiting and anticipation was just going to kill Odarian, he knew it. "How about I go check on the paitents for a bit then," **to clear my head** he added to himself, and he managed to draw his hands and self away from Oria.

"Later," she said Making the words sound like a promise for later.
