"Oh Zelle..." Eleada called in a sing-song voice as she entered the curtained corner, looking around for her friend. The cards in her hands shifted, and she was momentarily glad she'd taken the time to hunt down a small sack for them. H'rio would not have appreciated her loosing them.
"Yeah?" Zelle was taking a trip across her area. Her walking was getting better, less stiff, easier to do, but it still took her twice as long as it would have before the accident. Still, the pain was better even though she still needed the fellis. "Oh, hey Eleada."
Eleada grinned, studying Zelle's balance. "You're doing pretty good."
"Yep, hopefully by next week I'll be doing cartwheels." She'd be doing nothing of the sort, but Zelle was trying to be positive. If she didn't, she'd go crazy. "How's it going?"
"Same ol'." Eleada said dismissively, plopping herself on the edge of the bed. "Wing's driving me nuts, so are my sons, but I love it. But..." She grinned, holding up the little drawstring bag to dangle it from her fingers. "Guess what I managed to worm out of H'rio for the next few days."
"He's going to wait on you hand and foot?" Zelle guessed as she collapsed into a chair. She grinned but knew she hadn't guessed right. "What then?"
"Only the latest dragonpoker deck." She said airily, swinging the bag by the drawstring, eyes sparkling. "The scandalous one, with the... interesting pictures." Eleada's grin was positively mischievous now.
"Really?" Zelle sat up a bit straighter and pointed to the tiny table that was available mainly for putting small items, such as cups containing fellis or herbal tea. "Bring that over, would you?"
Obligingly, Eleada propelled herself off the bed and over to the table, setting the cards on top before carrying it over to her friend. "I took a look at them earlier to make sure he didn't pull a fast one. A lot of them aren't that different than others I've seen, but there's a few in there that are just amazing."
"Really? Which ones?" Zelle sat up, the motion not setting off the pain like it had a few sevendays prior. "Should we just go through them all and then play a game or play a game and discover as we play?"
"Your choice." Eleada said promptly. "You haven't seen them yet, so you get to decide."
"You're going to make _me_ decide?" Zelle huffs, then grins before she taps the table. "Come on, let's look through them first."
It took a moment to get the stiff drawstring open, but then the cards were slid onto the table, face cards down. Eleada fanned them out a little so that Zelle could get a look at the back artwork. It was an older printed design of dragons twining around one another, but freshly done so that the inks had not had a chance to fade. "Here you go."
"Let me see." Zelle took the cards and began to turn them over one by one. The first was the Lord of Spades. Zelle burst out laughing. "Is that Lord Corowal?"
"Yep." Eleada felt like her grin was going to split her face as she fought down a giggle. "I liked that one too. Keep going. There's one of the Tanner Hall Master that's hilarious."
"Lord Corowal's nose isn't _that_ big is it?" Zelle giggled as she turned that card, then more until she came to another. "Hey, it's Lord Zathris. Wow...I didn't think he was that _tall_! Of course, I don't think I've ever seen him in person. Is he as tall as a dragon?"
"I don't know. I doubt it." Eleada smirked. "I haven't met them to know. Ooo! Look at this one -it's the Dreams End Weyrwoman!"
"That is one big...butt." Zelle burst out into a belly laugh which caused her to hold her side where she'd had a gash. "They really went all out on these!"
"They really did." Eleada agreed, watching her friend reach for her side. She'd brought the cards to cheer Zelle up, not to hurt herself. "So... want to play?"
"Sure." Zelle grinned and turned the cards over. She shuffled them with quick, deft movements then dealt the cards. "These are so funny. Would you mind getting me a deck?"
"I can try. There aren't many copies out there, and they're kind of hard to find. I had to borrow these off H'rio, and swear on Gliorith's egg that I wouldn't lose or bend any of them."
"I'll pay you back if you can find one." Zelle picked up her cards, but didn't look at them. "Now, let's see if I can beat you to a pulp." She grinned, then settled her face into a somber mask and peeked at her cards.
Eleada snorted. "Fat chance of that." She retorted, picking up her cards. She nearly choked when she saw one of them was a particularly risque piece, but forced her mad giggles down to play the game.
