K'deren

K'deren

Eleada flopped back in her chair with a groan, shoving her paperwork away from her as she let her head fall back to gaze at the ceiling. She'd spent far too much time trying to work out the kinks in the wing positions with three key riders out of action for the next few Falls, and _really_ needed a break... She let her head roll to the side, and looked over at K'deren.

"I'm taking a break and getting some klah before I go crazy. Want to join me?"

"Now that does sound like an idea." K'deren shoved the pile of evaluations to the side. "This is not getting any smaller."

"Don't I know it." She agreed mournfully, carefully levering herself out of her chair -then grimaced. "Faranth, my leg's gone to sleep!"

"Stretch it out gently," K'deren advised her. "It'll wake up after a moment or two."

"I know." She clung to her desk as she waited for her leg to regain feeling. "But this clinches it. We've been sitting in here far too long. How about a snack to go with that klah?"

"Now you're definitely talking!" K'deren also stood up, and rubbed his wrist, "Too much writing, I need a break."

"Okay! Let's get out of here." Eleada released the table and began to hobble toward the door, shaking her leg a little each step as the pins and needles sensation set in. "So, how are things with you, K'deren? When you're not stuck in here with me, that is." She grinned.

"Well Deralie is growing like a weed, she looks more like her mother every day. It's just a shame she won't see it."

"It is a shame." she agreed sympathetically. "But at least you can always tell Deralie that she takes after her mother if she wonders where she got her looks."

"Well it wasn't from me, that's for sure."

She laughed. "I'm sure she got plenty of other things from you. Besides, sometimes it's a good thing for a kid to only look like one parent. I don't really look like any of my siblings and I'm the only blond in my family. You wouldn't believe how often I passed myself off as somebody else's kid when I was little! Got into all kinds of trouble when I was caught though."

"Well if she learns that one, I'll know who to blame!" K'deren waggled a finger in mock admonishment. "Mind you, I bet her brothers and sister will lead her into enough scrapes."

Eleada grinned. "Mine certainly did. But that's just the nature of being a kid. Getting into trouble and getting others into trouble until they're smart enough to avoid it."

"Just so long as she grows into a woman her mother would have been proud of is all I ask."

"Somehow I don't think that will be a problem." Eleada said warmly. "She's got a good family, and a loving fostermother and a devoted father. She'll be fine."

"I really hope so."
