"Jerroll!" Edele knocked on the door to the first mate's cabin, then rushed in as soon as she heard him reply. "Esper Bay! Esper Bay!"
The name was familiar, a minor hold, but a prosperous one on the furthest most edge of Jade Harbour Hold's territory. It was a busy for a minor hold, bringing in a lot of trade with the North.

He paused in picking up his shirt from the back of a chair. "What?"

"Esper Bay!" Excitemet coloured Edele's voice and she moved forward to clasp Jerroll's arm. "I remembered...Esper Bay!"

His eyes widened a little. "You know the name?"

"I know the name." Edele's heart fluttered wildly within her breast, exciting giving her a rush that made her dizzy. Of course, it probably didn't help she was still recovering from that blow thanks to that sailor. "I don't know why. No images come to mind, but the name, it came to me. Jerroll...I need to get to Esper Bay."

Jerroll reached for his shirt again and pulled it on. "We can get there, but it's going to take some time. I'll have to talk to the Captain first, and then we'll have to carefully plot the course. Going down the river is more dangerous now with Threadfall."

Surprised crept over Edele's visage. "You...do you think Lerra would set course? I mean, I expected to just be dropped off at the next port and make my way there. I didn't think you...or she would want to go so out of your way."

"She owes me a favor. Well, several, actually."

"But..." Edele's brow crinkled in uncertainty. "Even so, shouldn't you save those 'favours' for when you really need them?"

"If I store up too many, she might start forgetting she owes them to me." He smiled.

"Is that all?" The question was soft, almost a whisper as if Edele were almost afraid of the answer she would receive.

"Well, if you have a chance to find out about your past, I think you deserve to take that chance." Although he was worried about what she might find out, and if it would make her leave the ship, or worse.

His generousity left her without words for a moment, but she eventually managed to sputter a soft, "Thank you Jerroll. You don't know how much it means to me, your friendship."

"Friends are important, especially in this life."

"Yes." Edele took a slow, careful step back. Her face began to warm and she wasn't sure why. "I should...probably get started on breakfast."

"Pancakes?" he asked hopefully.

Edele smiled and nodded. "Pancakes...just for you."

"You're going to spoil me." He grinned.

"You deserve it." With another flush in her face, Edele ducked her head and hurried out of the room and below deck.
