She knew it was absolutely ridiculous to react this way, but she sharding wanted to cry. Why was it that they could sharding _never_ get along? It had always sharding been _like_ this - ever since they were weyrbrats, running amuck throughout Far Island.

Traelyn's eyes burned. She'd never be able to forget the expression on
his face, and the pity that had risen within her earlier came back again
to mingle with her frustration. Choking down a moan, she rounded the
corner and saw that she was right close to the Infirmary. Without even
realizing what she was doing, she flung herself inside.

Her heartbeat thundered in her ears as she looked around, and she
half-wondered if the sleeping occupants of the room would wake up because it was so sharding _loud_. Her gray eyes flickered to the corner of the room - towards the bed concealed by the curtain.

She wondered if he was awake.

Knowing that she was being foolish for letting her emotions carry her away like this, Trae also knew that she needed to see _someone_ who had
kindness in them - even if that person only wanted to flirt with her. At least it was banter. She knew banter. She could hide behind banter. She could lose herself in it.

Traelyn hovered at the curtain for a brief moment before slowly peeling
back part of it, sticking her head in.

O'dan grinned at her. "I knew you'd come back. But I didn't expect you to sneak in during the dead of night! Have you come to seduce me?"

"_Yes_, O'dan. That's _exactly_ what I came here to do," she told him in exaggerated tones, coming over to plop in the chair at his bedside. Her grin didn't quite reach her eyes though when she looked at him.

"I figured as much." He shifted enough to be able to see her easily,
quirking an eyebrow. "So what has you so worked up that only my
devestating charm can drive it from your mind. Weyrleader troubles?" Oh,
he _hoped_ it was... not that he wished troubles on Traelyn, but he took
delight in imagining J'darin messing things up.

She eyed him. "No... No Weyrleader troubles, O'dan. And I know you're
very disappointed about that."

"Terribly," he replied with an unashamed grin. "But I know that look,
lady. I've caused it in enough people. You've got man troubles."

Traelyn snorted. "I've got _men_ troubles, O'dan. Plural."

"Well, well, well!" O'dan's grin turned to a leer. "It's always the quiet ones, isn't it? How many men are troubling you, then?"

"Who says I'm quiet?"

"My mistake!" With endless days stretching out ahead of him with little to do but sit in a bed, O'dan found delight in the smallest of things, and Traelyn was his favorite sort of thing--a pretty woman. "But you can't avoid the question! How many?"

She glared good-naturedly at him. "All you need to know is that there are a few." She held up a finger. "But it only takes _one_ of them to set me off."

"Well, then. You'll have to tell me how to set you off... I love angry
women." O'dan pursed his lips. "Or maybe it would be more fun to find out through trial and error..."

A brow rose. "Oh, you think so, do you? Are you _sure_ you want me riled up? I know I snarl...but I _might_ bite too."

O'dan laughed, shaking his head. "Are you _sure_ you're not trying to
seduce me?"

Her smile came easier, and she adoped the tone she had used with him
earlier. "I told you already...that's _exactly_ why I'm here."

"And talking about biting and scowling is the best way to do it!" He
wiggled his eyebrows at her, enjoying the chance to flirt with someone who didn't know him from before the accident. It proved he still had _some_ charm in him, even flat on his back and incapable of walking. "Well, maybe not the _best_ way... but the best way to do it without my brother coming in here to break us apart!"

"Hmmm..." She leaned closer. "Maybe, if you're really good, we can try
the _best_ way once you get out of here," she teased, patting the bed.
"But then again, there are so many different paths of seduction..."

"Mmmm... and I like _all_ of them..."

Trae laughed, leaning back in her chair. Yes. She was beginning to feel better now. "You and the rest of the men of the Weyrs."

O'dan was pleased to see that she was relaxing, at least. It made his
chances better. "Trust me, lovely... I'm better than the rest of the men
of the Weyrs."

"Humble, aren't you?"

"Terribly," he replied dryly. "The most humble man you'll ever meet."

"I'm sure. But as far as if you're _better_ than them or not...only time will tell."

"Mmmm..." O'dan reached out to find her hand, pulling it up to his lips so he could kiss it lightly. "Well, then. Schedule me in for a nice long
block of time."

"You've got to _earn_ that time first, bronzerider," she murmured, tapping one finger against his palm.

Since earning it had always been the fun part, O'dan simply smiled smugly.
