Aileyan was still puzzled when she knocked the door. Why would the
Headwoman want to see her?

"Come in!" Tatitem called absently, marking her place on the hide. She
needed to talk to Viri about the report. The vinters were requesting more
shelving in their caverns for the smaller casks, but the current ones were
adequate as far as she knew...

"Headwoman, ma'am. You sent me a word that you wanted me to drop by when I
had the time?" Aileyan greeted shyly.

"Yes, that's right." She said automatically, trying to remember who she
had sent for today... The woman wasn't a kitchen worker, not with those
knots... Ah! "Please have a seat Aileyan. This won't take a moment." She
assured the greenrider as she opened one of the drawers in her desk.

Aileyan obediently sat down, still wondering what it all was about.

Tatitem rummaged around in the drawer. She knew she had put it in there
with the rest of the odds and ends... there. It had rolled to the back.
"Here it is." She announced, pulling the flute out and setting it on top
of the desk while she closed the drawer. Then she faced the greenrider
again, holding the instrument out. "Is this yours?"

Aileyan just stared it in disbelieve. After she had recovered from the
shock of seeing that cursed item, she managed to say: "Yes it is. Where
did it came up?" She had a irrational feeling that the flute was somehow
cursed and she would never be able to get rid of it. It would always come
back to you to remind her of broken promises.

"The drudge who emptied the garbage found it. It doesn't seem to be
damaged so we assumed that it was there by mistake." Tatitem explained.

"Yes, of course, " Aileyan muttered. She wished she could sink through to
chair and into the floor.

Tati could see that Aileyan was less than enthusiastic about the flute's
return. "Since it is yours, and still in good condition, would you like it
back, greenrider?"

"Of course," Aileyan said with a little shrug. She didn't know what else
to say.

"Very well then." Tati gave a cursory glance over the new hidework on her
desk and saw nothing that was relevant to the greenrider in front of her,
so she ignored it for the moment. "I beleive that's all I had to talk to
you about, greenrider. Is there anything else I can do for you at the
moment?"

"No, m'am. Everything's good." Aileyan replied.

Tatitem rose to escort her to the door. "Then have a good day, greenrider
Aileyan. And please take better care of your flute, if you don't want to
lose it again. Next time we might not be able to catch it in time."

"I'll do that," Aileyan replied with a surrreal, unreal feeling.

"Good day then." She said again, and after escourting her to the door,
went back to her reports.

"I can't believe, I got it back again!" Aileyan muttered by herself when she walked back to her weyr. What she was going to do with it now?
