Description: O'dan asks for a different weyr for his brother, Dantial.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 3, day 3 of Turn 4
O'dan still had a bright, obvious bruise on his cheek when he lowered himself into a chair in Ylisahn's office and offered her a tired smile.
"And how are you doing on this delightful day?"
"Well, bronzerider," Ylisahn said with a laugh, "I don't have bruises on my face, so I'm doing better than some."
"Not my color, hmmm?" He resisted the urge to poke at his chin to see how tender it was. "I was thinking of getting a tunic to match, though, so I wouldn't be such an eyesore."
"Or you could just wait a sevenday. What can I do for you, sir?"
"I've come on behalf of my brother," O'dan said after a moment. "He's been living with me in my weyr since my accident. It's nice of him, but I am getting to the point where I can get around on my own again, whether he agrees or not. I think it's time for him to reclaim his own space."
"On behalf of him?" Ylisahn repeated with a grin. "But you're really kicking him out."
O'dan grinned. "Maybe, but it's for his own good. He doesn't have to spend _all_ of his free time chasing me around like an old auntie. It's not good for him."
"I admire your concern for his welfare, I must say." She got to her feet and reach up onto a shelf, pulling down a roll of heavy hides.
"Let's see where we can put him. He's a healer, isn't he? Journeyman ... Dantial?"
"That's him. He had quarters before, but I don't know if they're still open..."
"Do you know where they were? I'm sorry, but I'm new to the job and the cross-reference list won't help since it would have been updated when he moved into your Weyr so we could find him if necessary."
O'dan hesitated for a moment, rather ashamed that he _didn't_ remember where his brother had been staying. "It was in the quarters usually assigned to crafters... I can't quite remember which one though."
"Oh. Oh, well. There's a nice room free that I was thinking ought to be kept for ... Perhaps it would do. It has a light shaft so it gets natural light. Look," Ylisahn flipped to the hide of the second level.
"It's here. A large, two room suite, not far from the loveliest bathing room in the Weyr. Perhaps that could tempt him out of your weyr?"
"Ylisahn, have I ever told you how wonderful you are?" O'dan lifted an eyebrow at her. "Beautiful _and_ brilliant."
"And not at all susceptible to flattery," Ylisahn pointed out. "Shall I write directions out for him?"
"That would be perfect. And if you're not susceptible to flattery, what _are_ you susceptible to?" It might come in handy to know in the future, after all.
"Kind hearts and good behaviour," Ylisahn said with a grin. "Let me know when you're ready to qualify, sir."
O'dan made a face. "You _would_ demand the impossible from me. A kind heart I can give you, but I've always been hopeless at good behavior."
"All the more reason to get your brother away from you before he's corrupted." She handed over the scrap of paper with the directions to the rooms written on them in the characteristic Weyr shorthand for levels and corridors. "Remind him that there won't be glows in there when he goes to look so he should take his own along and not steal them from the corridor."
"As if Dantial would ever do _anything_ as improper as stealing something!" O'dan only wished he could convince his brother to do something interesting. Dantial had come to the Weyr, but he lived like he was still at the Hall. "Thank you again, Ylisahn. I appreciate your help."
"You're welcome, sir."
