"Samdrath said something about you and Radeth going to the gather at Opal Cove," said the greenrider as she walked past the bronzerider.
"Feel like company?"
S'rak nodded and smiled, Hanni was always a pleasant sight. "I was going after I finished breakfast." he explained after he swallowed his bite. "and I'd love a beautiful companion for the day. Do you like races?"
"Runner races?"
"The only kind worth watching." S'rak assured, "I have a good friend who's trying out a new runner he's bred up and wants to show him off."
"Sounds like it could be interesting," she had to admit. Runners had been her first love after all.
He took another sip of his klah and looked her over, "You might want to put on something a bit warmer before we go. The flats get windy down there, so unless you plan on wearing your riding gear all day..."
"Riding gear might get a bit too warm," she admitted. "Half a candlemark and I'll see you in the Weyrbowl?"
He hadn't been wanting to leave that soon, but he didn't want to discourage her from going either so he agreed. "And if you've a mark or two on you it makes the races all the more interesting."
"I think I can scare up some marks. but let me see the runners first.
I want to know where my money is going."
S'rak couldn't help but chuckle, he knew this girl was smart. "My friend's uncle knows all the breeds. We can talk to him and he'll give us honest stats."
"Good," she smiled. "but I'll still check for myself, I was a beastcraft apprentice, so I know what to look for. I'd have gone on to specialize in runners if Samdrath hadn't had other plans." "Really?" his voice lilted in interest. "Well, maybe you'll have to help _me_ place my bets." "I think I can manage that much," she said with a grin.
S'rak drank the last of his klah and stood up, bending over to give Hanni a quick kiss on the cheek. "And maybe after the races you'll feel like joining me on the dance square?" She had been quite the fun dance partner at Turn's End. "Definitely. We'll show those holders what they are missing out on."
"What, you want to perform a repeat of our Turn's End toss dance?" S'rak teased, "Don't forget, I almost tossed you into that table full of healers!" "But you did it with such style!"
S'rak couldn't help but laugh. Hanni was so easy to be around, and such a nice distraction. "If you say so! So the Weyrbowl right?" "The Weyrbowl it is."
