Description: B'vin's green Serenth rises to mate.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 1, day 19 of Turn 4
B'vin didn't know what was wrong with him today. First he had made a young weyrling cry for not oiling their dragonet properly, and now he was arguing with Y'sani over a stupid schedule! He sought out Serenth's mind in hopes that she would steady him, **Are you awake yet?** She'd been sleeping most of the day in the Weyrbowl.
At the moment their minds touched he knew _what_ had been wrong with him and he inwardly groaned as Serenth's lust started to seep into her rider. B'vin didn't want this, he'd hoped that after they'd been threadscored that she wouldn't rise again, but he knew he couldn't do anything about it.
X'amor had been writing a song, the happiest one he had written in a while. He had never felt more full of life than he had lately, he knew that it was mostly because of his near-death experience at the beach, so when he felt Calodith's lust begin to seep into him he smiled wondering who the green was.
}:It's Serenth, and she is going to be mine!:{ Calodith bugled loudly as he made his way to the Weyrbowl to wait for the green to take flight.
X'amor's grin widened, **B'vin...** he wouldn't lie to himself and say he wasn't attracted to the greenrider, **I just hope this doesn't make our already unstable _friendship_ more complicated...** the bluerider thought as he made his way towards the Weyrbowl where the greenrider was most likely going to be.
R'alt was already down there, edging around the mob of dragonriders to get a good look at the rider of the lusty green. A man. B'vin...wasn't that his name? His disappointment that it wasn't a woman was swiftly and suddenly over-ridden by his dragon's lustful thoughts and determination to win, and he moved closer, mind beginning to fully link with the brown's.
Tieranith snarled at the blue as he backwinged near him, eyeing him and the other interested males as they too landed on the rim. _He_ would catch this green beauty! He may be young and not as big or as experienced as some of the older dragons here, but he had stamina! And he had the will to fly long and hard. Oh yes. The brown turned his attention from his crouched rivals to the shining green, eagerly awaiting her to launch herself to the winds.
D'ren hurried toward the group of riders, wondering nervously who the green's rider was. He felt his face pale when he saw a man standing in the center of the loose circle. }:Serenth is beautiful!:{ Menanth cut into D'ren's thoughts.
}:I will win her.:{ The young bronze stretched his wings, eyeing the green hungrily. The dragon's name sounded familiar to D'ren, and the rider looked familiar too, but his thoughts were starting to slip away.
Calodith hissed at the brown that he landed next to, no one was going to get the green but him. He was faster than the browns, but more experienced than any of the bronzes present, he was _going_ to win this flight!
X'amor was fully apart of his dragon by now, he growled at the other riders circled around the greenrider. His mind could no longer make the distinction between B'vin the rider and his green Serenth, they were both one in the same, just as he was one with his dragon.
}:I'll have this green!!:{
**Who,** queried I'lan.
}:Serenth, she'll be mine.:{ His rider stifled a groan, anyone but B'vin he thought as he made his way to the small knot of people surrounding her rider.
}:Hurry, D'cal! I want her!:{ Aosorath growled as he stared down into the weyrbowl from their ledge. His feet were dancing against the stone impatiently, waiting for his rider to jump to his back and get into position in time to join the chase.
**I'm coming,** D'cal said, carefully brushing shavings from his pants.
The thought struck him - who was he going to end up with they didn't catch Serenth? He usually went to B'vin, but if they loose...
}:Come on!:{ the usually gentle blue almost roared.
**Coming!**
Brown Rahmuth trumpeted his admiration for the beautiful green.
** B'vin, B'vin,** Sh'dori muttered, ** I hardly know the man. Oh well.** He shrugged it of. Flights were different, different rules applied then. Normally he preferred only women. But when Rahmuth's emotions were involved, his preferences didn't matter. And if they happened to win, nothing else mattered.
As Serenth leaped into the air, bugling a challenge to all the males, B'vin's heart went with her. His mind had been in overload, first with the emotions Serenth was pouring into him, and then with borderline panic as all the men had gathered around him. He had calmed when he saw D'cal was among them, and finally let himself become merged with his spirited green.
Calodith launched after the green, the first in the air. He held back though, he had to save his energy.
Luthinath had already launched himself skyward by the time Y'sani could escape from his duties. The bronze hadn't won a green flight in a very long time, and had every intention of catching this one. His determination leaked through to Y'sani, who arrived at the cluster of riders without the faintest idea whose dragon Luthinath was even chasing.
Rahmuth rose to the air after the green. His strong wings carried him steadily higher and he trumpeted his admiration to the beautiful green ahead of him.
With a challenging bugle, Menanth took flight after the green. He knew he was young and strong, better than all the other males. And he would prove it!
Girifith bugled and charged after the green. It had been a while since he had caught a green. He was frustrated and determined that this time she would be his!
Serenth dared a look behind her at her suitors as she raced through the sky. She was very pleased with the number who sought her, and many were fine looking males; but were any of the worthy of her? She dived down and then pulled up, veering to the left to skirt the cliffs on the shoreline. Only the best flyer would catch her this day!
Rahmuth was strong flyer. Although the brown lost ground after her fast turns, he had the stamina and patience to wait till she tired.
Luthinath's arrogance filtered through to his rider as the bronze soared above many of the smaller dragons. Few but the queens could compete with his size and strength, and he knew it. But as he soared over the beautiful green, she executed a quick dive with an agility a dragon of his size could never hope to match. Luthinath struggled to compensate for the change in direction, bellowing his fury when the smaller, less deserving males reacted faster. He knew then that one of them would snatch this green prize away from him, even as he folded his wings and dove after them in a desperate attempt to catch up.
Menanth kept after the green, feeling that he had strength left to go on a while longer. He hadn't used most of his strength in the early part of the chase as he had in the past. The young bronze was learning.
Tieranith roared, wings curving as he caught an updraft and soared past the bronze. He was tiring...but he would not give up! He wanted to win her. Serenth would be _his_! Surely she had to see he was the one for her? He may be young, and he may not be as fancy a flier as some of his rivals, but he could satisfy her lust. And he would too. If only she'd let him...
Rahmuth called the green again, telling how _HE_ was the best choice.
Calodith roared his challenge. He wanted the green, it was obvious. But why hadn't she chosen him yet? He sped forward in a last attempt to show her how much he wanted her.
Aosorath was determined that he would be the one to catch the enticing green. His rider wanted it. He wanted it too! The little blue knew he was fast. Now he just had to be smart. When she dove, he dove after her. When he veered, he made sure he was a half a beat ahead of her. He was flying better than he ever had before! Finally, he would have her! D'cal reached his fingers out to B'vin as his lifemate stretched his wings after his friends.
But it was B'ram's arms the greenrider fell into. As Serenth wheeled around to tease her chasers once more, a brown had anticipated her move and dove down to catch her from above, robbing her from the rest of her chasers. Girifith bugled his triumph as his tail entwined with hers.
