Feeling Particularly Adult

Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 13, day 17 of Turn 3

Y'sani tucked one hand behind his head before tightening the other arm around Karaleigh, pulling her a little more snugly against his side. All in all he was feeling fairly pleased with himself. The weyrlings had managed to avoid crisis for the entire evening, Karaleigh had seemed suitably pleased about how things had progressed after he'd finally gotten down to business, and even the cold food waiting for them in the hallway had tasted excellent. He was almost loathe to go to sleep, knowing that he'd wake up to a day that couldn't possibly be as enjoyable as the evening had been.

Karaleigh certainly was in no hurry to drift off. It had been a long time since she had a warm body to snuggle up to, and shard it, she wanted to enjoy it! "What time is it, do you think?" she asked softly, testing to see if he was still awake.

"A few candlemarks to dawn, maybe?" Something told him he wouldn't be getting up for his usual early morning workout. Not that he needed it after the last evening. He'd earned the right to sleep in, he thought...
and had already given himself the luxury of doing so by giving the weyrlings the morning off.

The harper groaned into his shoulder. He might have the morning off, but she certainly did not. She still had a room full of energetic children to coral in a few candlemarks. "I really should sleep, but I just don't want to."

Y'sani chuckled. "Well, remind me not to wait so long before we do this again. Maybe then I won't have to keep you up most of the night before I'm willing to let you get any rest."

"May I suggest the night before a restday?" She wasn't at all sure why they didn't _always_ make sure the weyrlings had a day to recover, considering the state most of them were in after their first night as Senior Weyrlings.

"Any night you like," he replied easily, leaning down to kiss the top of her head gently. "I've always got to be a Weyrlingmaster first, but after that I'm at your beck and call."

"Hmmm, that's good to know." She didn't mind he had his weyrlings to attend to. Karaleigh had her career too. She would never be content just to wait at home for any man, but it certainly was comforting to think that she didn't have to spend every evening alone with her feline.

Smiling, Y'sani propped his head up on his hand and looked down at Karaleigh. "So, you're having trouble getting to sleep, hmm?" he asked with a slightly mischevious glint in his eyes.

She knew that look. And now she knew exactly what would follow, and shards if it didn't sounds like a really good idea! "A little. Do you have any ideas? A song, or a story perhaps?"

"Mmmm. You're the harper..." His lips found the line of her jaw and slid down. "You can tell me a story if you want, but I think I'll stick to something I'm a little better at."

"I only know children's story's and I am feeling particularly adult right now," she grinned as her fingers slipped into his hair, encouraging him to keep doing what he was doing.

His lips traced further, exploring the graceful arch of her neck and teasing at the sensitive spot where it met her shoulder. "Then how about a song? Don't you know any... adult ones?" He glanced up at her with a grin before his lips drifted lower.

"I really shouldn't distract you with my horrid singing." At least not yet. If he kept going the way he was, he'd have a concert in no time!
Shards, a Turn was such a long time!

"Don't worry," he murmured against her skin. "I'm hard to distract once I set my mind to something." And right now he had his mind set on rendering her exhausted enough to drift off to sleep.

"Well, let me see if I can't help you steel your resolve," she grinned as her hands began to wander. He didn't get to have _all_ the fun...
