B'ram

B'ram

Eleada stared blankly at the wing formations on her desk. She'd been studying the new drills for about a candlemark longer than she really needed to, mostly in an effort to avoid going to bed until she was certain she wouldn't dream.

}:What is the little one playing with?:{ Gliorith asked softly, sounding entranced.

Eleada looked over her shoulder, out the door into Gliorith's weyr where the feline was pouncing animatedly on something too small to see. **A dustball.** She thought absently at Gliorith, wondering yet again what her green saw in the feline. Eleada didn't see anything fascinating about her. Certainly nothing as distracting as she wanted. Maybe she should drop in on someone...? It was late though...

As if in answer to her thoughts, a voice called from her green's ledge. "Eleada? May I come in?"

Eleada jerked in surprise, nearly ripping the formations before she caught herself and carefully sat them down. Who...?

}:Girifith and B'ram.:{ Gliorith supplied helpfully. Eleada blinked.
B'ram...? "I... suppose." She answered, standing from the chair. "Come on in." She spared a quick glance around her weyr, running her fingers self-consciously through her curls to straighten them. She'd cleaned before her mother and her boys had visited earlier, so it was still relatively presentable.

"Hello there," he grinned as he peeked his head through the curtain. "Are you busy?"

"Not really." She admitted, walking over to the doorway. "Just reviewing some new drill patterns -and watching Arieoss." She gestured over at the feline, who was preparing to pounce again. Gliorith was looking torn between the brown on her ledge and watching the feline.

"Well, I just happened to pass the kitchens earlier, and I noticed they are cooking up the most delicious looking deserts. I was wondering if you might like to steal a snack and a cup of klah with me."

**Isn't this convenient...** She shrugged. Why not? He would certainly be a distraction from her empty weyr. "Sure. But you'll pardon me if I request a snack rather than steal one." She grinned, remembering her weyrbrat days. "The kitchen staff all know me, and they're more than willing to beat me 'round the ears with a ladle."

"With a ladle? Shards, what kind of trouble do _you_ get into?" he asked, a bit surprised to find she had a mischievous streak. Interesting.

She grinned. "Whatever I feel like." She said lightly, then laughed. "I was a weyrbrat and Impressed here before I transferred north. My mother was a cook before she became a fostermother, and most of her friends are on the kitchen staff. So they all know me pretty well."

"They know you well enough to turn violent? You must have made quite a lasting impression," the brownrider chuckled. "Well, should we walk down to the kitchens or be really lazy and have our lifemates carry us down?"

"Lazy." She said immediately, hooking arms with him. Now that the option had been offered, she wanted _out_ of her weyr. Having B'ram there just reminded her how quiet it had been with just her and Gliorith. **Do you mind, dear?** She queried Gliorith.

}:Not at all.:{ Gliorith said easily, watching them with lightly whirling eyes before returning her attention to Arieoss. Eleada rolled her eyes at her dragon before looking sideways at B'ram. "So what about you? I assume you're good at snitching...?" She smiled to herself.

"So good I've never had to worry about ladles being wielded towards my ears. They all think I'm sweet and nice. Little do they know I rob them blind," he bragged.

"Uh huh." She said, amused. "If you show up with me, you'd better learn to duck. Your reputation will be permanently stained, and they'll watch your every move." She teased as Gliorith sighed and lumbered stiffly to her feet. Eleada frowned, and decided not to ask Girifith instead. The only way to work with Gliorith's stiff leg was for her to use it.

"So are we riding double then? Or shall we go on our respective lifemates?" he asked curiously. "I think each to their own." She admitted as Gliorith limped out to the ledge and touched noses with Girifith. "Gliorith looks like she wants the exercise -unless you want a ride...?" She raised an eyebrow.
Girifith would probably prefer having his rider on him, and Gliorith was certainly determined to keep her despite the option to stay with Arieoss.

"I think Girifith wouldn't mind if we rode double on Gliorith. Gives him more time to flirt," the brownrider grinned.

}:Well, I kind of mind...:{ the brown admitted.

**Come on, I'm trying to score points with her rider... It could only help later when Gliorith rises again...** B'ram pointed out.

}:True. Ok. I'll invite her to sit on the beach with me after she's finished. The sand is still warm.:{
**Good plan.** "Nope, he doesn't mind at all."

Eleada glanced sideways at B'ram, but kept her smile to herself. She knew what he was doing. And she wasn't entirely adverse to the situation. It had been a long time since someone tried to court her.
"All right then, me first." She slipped out of B'ram's grip and grabbed the harness, pulling herself onto Gliorith, then reaching down to give B'ram a hand up.

The brownrider took it and carefully swung up behind her, mindful of the fact that Gliorith was much smaller than Girifith. Wrapping his arms around her middle, he leaned forward to say quietly in her ear, "I'm ready when you are."

She exhaled, trying not to remember the last time she'd had male arms wrapped around her that weren't her brother's... "We're off then." She said cheerfully, silently directing Gliorith to set them down outside the kitchens. She blinked as they glided down in the darkness. She didn't often leave her weyr at night anymore. The weyr was sort of pretty with all the lights in the weyrs...

B'ram could almost read her mind. As they circled down he whispered in her ear, "It's beautiful, isn't it? Doesn't it kinda make you wish we could just fly around a while?"

"Almost." She admitted. "But I kinda want that klah you promised now."
An unromantic comment to be sure, she thought, but having his arms wrapped around her was highly distracting. Old memories of her early years before her self-imposed abstinence were rising from locked chambers.
She'd been far too inventive for her own good...

Gliorith backwinged in front of the kitchens, landing jarringly and causing a small hop to get her leg in position. Eleada frowned, but before she could ask her green Gliorith reassured her she was fine. Her leg just didn't want to bend again. Eleada sighed. "We're here. Sorry for the landing. Stiff leg."

"That's ok," B'ram chuckled as he slipped off the side and reached up to help her down.

"Am I funny?" She demanded in playful mock anger as she slid down Gliorith's side. As soon as she reached the ground, Gliorith jumped awkwardly into the air to join the circling Girifith. "Or is there something else I should know?"

"It just reminded me of a few landings I had on Girifith when he was first learning to fly. He didn't have nearly as good an excuse as your Gliorith has." He looped his arm over her shoulders. "Her leg seems to be healing nicely."

Eleada sighed. "The healers say it's as good as it will ever get now, but it doesn't usually bother her unless she's been sleeping or immobile for a while. Like tonight." She shook her head, dismissing the topic, and looked up at B'ram with a hint of her usual mischief in her eyes.
"Soo... want to meet some ladles?"

"I'd rather meet the pastries," he grinned back. "Perhaps you should follow my lead."

"Why of course." She said graciously, snaking her own arm around his waist. "Lead on, my lord brownrider." She grinned impishly at him.
