Description: Y'sani decides to whisk Karaleigh away to dinner and hope no one manages to interrupt their all-too-rare time together.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 13, day 8 of Turn 3
Y'sani leaned against the wall outside of Karaleigh's office, wondering how much more of her time the parents she was talking to planed on taking up.
He'd already been waiting nearly a half a candlemark, but he wasn't going to take the chance that someone else would come along and catch her before he whisked her away. Everyone deserved a break _some_ time, and he was starting to get annoyed with how often duties interrupted his time with his lovely harper.
"Thank you for coming, and I wouldn't worry," Karaleigh said as she opened the door. "Young children often go through a phase of curiosity about the opposite sex. We just need to help Funai understand that looking up girls skirts is not going to give him all the answers."
"Thank you, Journeywoman. We will speak with him tonight," his father promised. "I didn't expect to have to have this talk with him so _soon_, but..."
"We'll have an honest talk with him, like you suggest," Funai's mother nodded as she lead them all out the door. "Good night, Karaleigh."
"Goodnight," she smiled, but her eyes were drawn to the Weylingmaster waiting in her wings. "And hello to you," she smiled when they were gone.
He smiled slowly, not moving in her direction. "What are the chances I can lure you away from your office before someone else shows up?"
"Considering it's you and I am perfectly willing to be lured away... I'd say the chances are good," Karaleigh smiled as she walked towards him slowly.
"But what do you plan to do with me after you've kidnapped me from all my responsibilities?"
"Well, there's dinner on its way to my weyr," he replied, a smile curving his lips. As soon as Karaleigh was close enough, he reached out to catch her hand and tug her against him. "And L'pin has promised he can keep the weyrlings alive for the evening, if you want to stick around after we eat."
"Hmmm... I might like to relax for a while," she grinned, wrapping her arms around his middle. It was surprisingly easy to give in to that Weyrlingmaster!
After checking up and down the hallway to make sure there were no pesky onlookers, Y'sani leaned down to kiss her. What was meant to be a short kiss turned decidedly intense as the frustration of the past months rose up in him. He could already see the course of the evening--a teasing dinner during which he watched her every movement and thought illicit thoughts. A kiss or two, and maybe some wonderfully tantalizing touches--and then whatever emergency decided to present itself _this_ time and leave him utterly and completely frustrated.
The temptation to back her into her office and forget about dinner was nearly overwhelming. "Well," she whispered, more than a little breathless after that kiss, "I suppose I'd better close up my classroom and get ready for dinner, hmmm?"
"Probably," he replied, his voice sounding rougher than he wanted. He cleared his throat and forced himself to let go of her. After all the time he'd spent patiently wooing her, he wasn't _quite_ ready to have it end with her pinned up against her desk. "Do you need any help?"
"Would you be willing to clean the activity corner over there?" she asked hopefully, pointing to a table full of half painted hides.
"Of course." Not that he had any idea what cleaning it entailed... but he made an effort to push around the hides until they looked like they'd been stacked in some meaningful order. "I hear the weyrlings are getting ready to make their first jumps /between/," Karaleigh said as she piled the hides on her desk off to the side. She'd worry about those later.
"Not more than a sevenday or two now," Y'sani replied, tucking a last hide into the stack. It was the closest he got to actual organization, which was why he needed L'pin so badly. Standing, he moved back in her direction.
"They'll be unmanagable for a few days after that, but once they get settled back in, I think I might be able to get a moment's break."
"Oh shards, so soon?" she sighed. "Every time they graduate I have to run for cover."
Y'sani slid his hands around her waist and tugged her back against him, lowering his mouth to her ear. "How convienent that you happen to know someone the weyrlings will all be going out of their way to avoid."
"Hmmm, that might be useful," she grinned into his shoulder. "Perhaps I can hide behind you then?"
"I wouldn't argue." In spite of his promise to himself to behave, he couldn't quite resist the temptation that the soft skin of her neck presented. Not when his lips were already so close... Karaleigh was not about to chide him as her eyes fluttered closed. They might be in the middle of a classroom for children, but no one was around.
What could a few stolen moments hurt...
His lips worked their way back up her neck and along her jaw before claiming her mouth again. A kiss wouldn't hurt, after all... he hoped. His ego was going to be sorely bruised if Karaleigh managed to completely shatter his formerly formidable self-control.
Shards, it was nice, and Faranth knew it had been a looooooong time, Karaleigh could tell he was not ready to pull back. Not that she wanted to turn him away, but this was after all her _classroom_. Pulling back slightly she gave him a reassuring, and rather pleased grin. "So did you get the corner cleaned up then?"
Y'sani forced himself to step back and crossed his arms over his chest to make it easier to keep his hands to himself. "Of course I did. Or at least, I tried." "You're... you're not _mad_ are you?" Karaleigh asked, confused by his suddenly closed stance. She didn't mean to completely push him away...
"Oh, _shards_, no!" Y'sani reached out again, touching her cheek lightly.
"Karaleigh, I don't know if I'm much better than a weyrling myself right now. My self control is usually better than this, but you're an awful temptation."
"Oh, well," she couldn't help her rather pleased grin. "I think we've cleaned up enough."
"Me, too," he replied in a hoarse sounding voice. Obviously it had been too long, because he was starting to feel like he was fifteen again. Maybe it was the fact that they kept getting sharding _interrupted_. "Ready for dinner?" "I am indeed," Karaleigh said as she reached up to take his hand in hers.
"Shall we?"
