Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 13, day 1 of Turn 3
The rather loud BANG on her office door shattered the quiet stillness of the evening. Traelyn started in her chair, dropping the ink pen onto the work spread out in front of her. Swearing, she stared down at the now _ruined_
piece of hidework she'd been grumbling over for the past candlemark. The ink had splattered everywhere. And the numbers she'd tallied were now unrecognizable. Wonderful. Just wonderful.
BANG.
With another quiet, succinct oath, she tore her eyes away from the mess in front of her, and she scowled in the general direction of the door. Did they have to be so sharding _loud_ about it? "Come in!" she called. Or maybe it was more a frustrated yell.
There was another bang, followed by a cheerful voice. "How many hands do you think I _have_, woman?"
Well, shards. "Crutches?" she asked, staring with a raised brow at the bronzerider once she opened the door.
O'dan grinned at her. "You thought you'd be safe forever hiding in your office? You should have known better."
Great. Wonderful. "Yeah, I should've known better," she agreed with an exaggerated sigh, making room for him to hobble inside. "Come on in, O'dan.
I have a feeling that if I closed the door on you, you'd keep banging on it with the sharding crutches until I opened it again."
"Oh, come on..." O'dan winked as he manuvered himself across the room, dropping gratefully into a chair. "Are you still mad at me over the kissing thing? I've kept my promise, haven't I?"
Ignoring his question, she snatched the ruined piece of hidework up and waved it pointedly under his nose. "Don't be annoying right now, bronzerider. Everything _else_ is going wrong today." And sharding scraping at her frayed nerves.
Wincing, O'dan stretched his injured leg out and gave her a sympathetic look. "Sorry about that. I didn't _mean_ to startle you." The fact that he'd lost his balance and smacked the door harder than he'd meant to was something he'd keep to himself, though.
"I know," she sighed, taking the other chair next to him. "So how's it going with those?" Traelyn nodded to the crutches.
O'dan shrugged one shoulder. "At least I'm moving, again. I think I would have gone crazy if I'd had to spend another day trapped in my weyr by myself."
"Who's to say you didn't already?"
"I was hoping you would," O'dan replied hopefully. "Come on, Traelyn...
I'm not _that_ bad, am I? I can be charming sometimes."
Putting the hide aside, she turned her head to give him a grin. "You can be charming a lot of the time." Like his ego _needed_ any more inflating.
"Well, I need to be good at _something_ I suppose." He wiggled his eyebrows at her. "Right now, about all I can manage is being charming."
"Oh, I don't know... You were managing pretty well at the kissing part too."
O'dan grinned. "I thought that was part of my charm."
She gave a rather inelegant snort. "Yes, I suppose it would be, wouldn't it?"
"It was nice of you to let me practice," O'dan said casually, leaning back a little and working to stretch out his injured leg. "I don't see nearly as many pretty ladies coming to visit as I used to."
A pale brow arched. "Oh, so I was practice then, was I?" How nice.
"If I told you it was true love, you might start running again." O'dan grinned at the goldrider. "I should think it should be obvious that I'm still not up to chasing, delightful as you may be. My brother would wallop me if I tried."
Traelyn grinned at him. "And what if _I_ wanted to...chase...hmm?"
It was O'dan's turn to arch an eyebrow. He hadn't taken Traelyn for the chasing type, though he couldn't say he didn't like the idea. "Even if I were capable of running, I don't know how hard I'd be trying to get away.
You can catch me any time you want, gorgeous."
She inched closer, leaning over the arm of her chair, the look in her dark eyes positively impish--and suggestive. "I usually leave it up to the bronzes to chase. But when I _do_ chase, I tend to...demand." The bronzerider couldn't place her in a category so easily. She loved to keep the men on their toes--and she always had, especially back at Far Island.
"A lot."
"Don't worry, gorgeous..." O'dan's grin was positivly wicked. "I like my ladies demanding."
