Description: Ny'n discusses an errant weyrling with Y'sani
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 10, day 17 of Turn 3
Ny'n had been reticent to go to the new Weyrlingmaster with his concern over the young brownrider he and Damarith had observed breaking the rules now on three separate occasions. He had been a daredevil himself in his youth and hated to put a damper on the adventurous young lad and his lifemate. These were difficult times however, and the Weyr could scarcely afford to lose a dragon and rider over the follies of youth. Ny'n felt any further inaction on his part would be irresponsible. The brownrider knocked briskly on Y'sani's office door, half hoping the Weyrlingmaster was not in, and having to curb a chuckle at the fact that going to the Weyrlingmaster's office still caused his insides to flip flop.
The door opened before he had a chance to change his mind, revealing a friendly looking man. "Come on in. Have a seat."
Ny'n smiled at the bronzerider and entered taking a seat looking around the room. "It's been some time since I've been in here," he said and I must say that you look a sight friendlier than the Weyrlingmaster that I had, though that could be because I'm no longer 13 turns old," he chuckled. "I'm Ny'n. Damarith and I fight in the Hurricane wing."
"It's good to meet you, Ny'n." Y'sani sat down behind his desk and leaned back with a smile. "So what brings you to the Weyrlingmaster's office, since you're _not_ thirteen turns anymore!"
Ny'n smiled, "Well, aside from wanting to meet you, I have some concerns about one of your Weyrlings. I feel like a tunnel snake bringing this to your attention. Farananth knows that I had my share of unapproved jaunts during my weyrling days, but having observed their flying, I'm afraid this pair may be just good enough to get themselves hurt, and I'm quite certain that those are _not_ approved maneuvers they were working on."
"Ahhh..." It was a common enough problem, but usually Y'sani had to wait until the pair managed to injure themselves before he could put a stop to it. "Well, I'm glad you came to me, Ny'n. We can't afford to lose anyone. Do you know who it was?"
"Indeed," the brownrider nodded. "The first time we saw them practicing in the cove, I just let it go, but the second time I had Damarith speak to Quoreath and I caught up with young P'rayn later. It's the third time that I'm coming to you."
Y'sani nodded. "Well next time, please feel free to come to me the first time. I don't know how the old Weyrlingmaster did things, but I'm strict with my weyrlings."
"As is needed, particularly in these times. Next time, I will come immediately. I fear I empathized too much at first, remembering my own weyrling days. Actually it took threadfall to put an end to my thrill seeking. Probably a good thing I'm not on your weyrling staff." "I don't know... you showed good judgment bringing this to me," Y'sani replied easily, smiling. "I can't think of anything that weyrling staff needs more than good judgment."
Ny'n chuckled and stood, "I doubt I would make the best instructor. It was good to meet you Y'sani." "And good to meet you," Y'sani replied, rising as well. "I'll be speaking with P'rayn this afternoon, so I'd appreciate it if you let me know at once if you see him doing anything... unusual again in the future."
"I certainly will," Ny'n assured the Weyrlingmaster.
