Barenziah

Barenziah was glad that they were getting some time away from Meledei and Endarin. Not that the two weren't nice, she supposed, but they were both just so.. stiff, it seemed. There was no doubt in Barenziah's mind that she and D'shiel would have much more fun on their own.

"Ah, now what shall we do that we are free of goldriders and Hallmasters?" she asked. The weather for the Gather was perfect and people were busy milling about the merchant stalls and food tents.

"Food, drink or shopping?" D'shiel asked. It was too early to dance. He glared at a healer who stopped to look Barenziah up and down and the man scurried off. When did he get so jealous?

Barenziah considered the choices as she looked around. "How about a bit of shopping? Then we can stop for some refreshments before the dancing starts."

He tried not to groan and nodded politely. Shopping wasn't his thing, but he knew women enjoyed it for some reason. "What do you want to look at?"

"Pants. I'd like a few more options to choose from." Barenziah had not completely forsaken wearing skirts or dresses around the Weyr, but there were times when pants were just more convenient.

"Pants, all right." He glanced around. "Leather or something else?" He looked her up and down, picturing her in leather. It made his heart race.

Barenziah could feel the way he looked at her when he said leather and it made her stomach flutter. "Both, I think. Leather would be nice for when I go flying," she glanced up at him mischievously, "now that I have a dragonrider friend, and everything, I expect to be doing more of it."

He arched his eyebrows at her. "I'm sure we can do lots of riding." Some of it on dragonback.

The first stall they entered had clothing of all kinds on display, some so risque that Barenziah felt her cheeks turning pink. Avoiding _that_ section, Barenziah ended up by the pants and breeches, her fingers skimming over the different materials as she looked for something suitable.

D'shiel, on the other hand, was happy to linger at the lingerie. He didn't know Barenziah well enough to suggest she wear it, but that didn't stop him from picturing her in it. Especially that little red thing…

With a sigh, he followed her to the normal clothing. "What do you like," he asked.

"Not these for sure." She held up a pair of sparkly pants that caught light no matter which way you looked at them. "I can just imagine showing up in the Dining Cavern wearing these."

D'shiel snorted softly, not wanting to offend the crafter who made them. "They're interesting, but a little flashy." He knew a male greenrider who would have adored them, but his taste was dubious at best.

"Oh they are fabulous!" A voice sounded from behind Barenziah.

"Speak of the wher," D'shiel muttered.

Barenziah raised her eyebrow at the word 'fabulous', "These?" She asked, making sure the stranger was talking about the hideous pants in her hands.

"Oh Faranth yes!" A'llaen enthused. "Just look at that shine. No one could ignore me in these. Well hello handsome." He winked at D'shiel. To Barenziah he asked, "Do you share?"

"I'm afraid not," the redhead said jovially, "I tried that once, it didn't end so well."

"Maybe it was just with the wrong person?" the greenrider suggested. He wiggled his eyebrows and approached the crafter. "Hoe much for these?" He pointed at the shiny pants.

D'shiel just rolled his eyes and gestured toward a more subtle pair. "How about those?"

Barenziah was still grinning over the greenrider's comment as she turned and looked at the pair of pants D'shiel suggested. "Mmm, I like these. You have pretty good taste for a man."

"Yeah, Ti…" His expression clouded briefly. "So I've been told."

"I'll take these." She handed the garment to the vendor who bagged the item up in exchange for her marks. Turning back to D'shiel, she took his head, twining her long, delicate fingers with his. "I guess we'd better see if we can find Meledei and Endarin?"

"Yes." It took him a moment to realise he was holding her hand and another to realise he liked it. He gave hers a gentle squeeze. "We should. I'm getting hungry."
