A Weyr for Three

Writers: Emma, Heather
Date Posted: 3rd December 2014

Characters: I'lan, Judassa, Chaysea
Description: I'lan and Judassa visit Chaysea for family weyr
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 10, day 1 of Turn 7
Notes: Mentioned: L'pin

Chaysea was all smiles as she opened the door and gestured for I'lan
and Judassa to have a seat in front of her desk. "Congratulations on
the baby, you two." Chaysea could not help but feel a small spark of
envy that Judassa and I'lan's relationship had developed so
effortlessly. She hoped that she and L'pin would get there at some
point.

"Thank you." Judassa smiled, tucking a strand of her golden hair
behind her ear as she took a seat.

"We didn't exactly plan it, well not this quickly," I'lan said with a grin
as he held Judassa's chair for her. "But clearly someone wants, and needs a
mother and father who are going to be there for them, and that's us."

Judassa stifled the prick of guilt that I'lan's words brought, and
instead she smiled at the bronzerider, "Which is why we are needing a
family-sized weyr."

Chaysea's skirts swished softly around her feet as she retreated
behind her desk and pulled out her diagram of the weyrs. The piece of
paper covered nearly her entire desk and was comprised of different
sheets stacked together to represent the different levels of the Weyr.

"Allright, obviously something with stair access will be in order."
Chaysea said as her eyes scanned over the sheet. "What size bronze is
your lifemate?" She asked, looking up at I'lan.

"He's on the smaller end of the scale," I'lan said as he took his own seat.
"But don't tell him I said that. And we need room for Bubbly, my canine, as
well."

The Headwoman looked over her map, tapping the end of her stylus
against her lips as she contemplated a good place for Judassa and
I'lan, "I have a lower level weyr with stair access near the Weyrlake.
That'll leave you with a nice view, but it will be a bit of a walk to
the Dining Cavern." They would have to cross the entire Weyrbowl.

"Does it have a bathing pool?" he asked. "I don't know much about babies,
but I don't want to be carrying a child who needs a new nappy to the bathing
caverns to clean them up."

Judassa wrinkled her nose and nodded in agreement with I'lan's
question, "Yes, a bathing pool would be best."

Chaysea glanced down, "I hadn't even thought of that. Let's see then."
Her finger moved away from the weyr near the lake and wondered instead
toward the lower level weyrs more toward the Dining Cavern. "I don't
have a lower level with a bathing pool open, I do have a mid-level.
It's near the Dining Caverns with a bathing pool, but it'll be more
stairs on foot for you."

"That's not too far," I'lan said studying the map. "What do you think
Judassa, will you be able to manage the stairs in a few months?"

Judassa thoguht about it for a moment, waying out the pros and cons of
a bathing pool versus climbing the stairs in the later days of her
pregnancy. "I want the one with the bathing pool, I think. I won't be
pregnant forever and then when the baby is here it would be nice to
have."

"I will write you down for that weyr then." Chaysea said. "Will you
two need any help moving?"

"I think Naath and I can mange our things," the bronzerider said after a
moment or two. "What I move depend on what is in there already," he
continued, speaking his thoughts. "How much stuff have you got?"

"Not very much." Judassa assured him.

Chaysea thought back to the last time she had been in the vacant weyr.
She often perused their empty weyrs to make sure that nothing in them
was amiss, "There's a bed, table, and a couple of dressers already
present in the weyr." They had been emptied and cleaned from the last
inhabitants but never removed.

"So we'll need that sofa of mine, and the table." I'lan was thinking aloud.
"And Bubbly's bed of course." The canine slept in what had been a box at one
point in time, and was now well padded and covered with some old, ratty
looking blankets.

Judassa had only one request, "There's a stuffed chair in my weyr that
I would like to take." It was comfortable, if not the most stylish
print, and would be perfect while she was pregnant.

"Maybe we should go and look first?" suggested I'lan, "make sure there's
going to be room for everything."

The blonde turned to Chaysea, "Would that be allright?"

Chaysea nodded, "Of course. You two can just let me know if it will
work out for you."

"I'm sure it will be," I'lan said. "We're going to make it work, for the
little one."
