It was all set. Rhosyn was going to be loose, easy, and worry-free. Of
course she had enlisted the help of a bronzerider to get them around.
It had taken a bit of talking to get Lenala into it, but somehow she
had managed. Clad in a tunic and some trousers, she had put her knots
on the dresser for the evening. Rhosyn was just going to be Rhosyn-not
the Weyrwoman-for her birthingday. Waiting on her ledge, she waited
for Mnoranth to show up.

The two of them were only three days apart, Rhosyn being the eldest.
Of course they had also Impressed at the same Weyr, though she had
done so a full five turns earlier than Lenala. The two of them had
been separated and then the younger rider had transferred. Times like
these, though, it was sort of nice having a Second that close in
turns-someone who had even sort of known her before.

Lenala was wearing rather revealing dress under her flying jacket.
Hesitant at first, she had warmed up to Rhosyn's idea. Forget being
ladylike, flirt and have fun, that was her plan.

Mnoranth called to the queens the moment they appeared over the star
stones. Soon they were touching down on Rhosyn's ledge and he slid
from the broad bronze back.

}:Lovely Orlaith:{ he crooned to the gold queen. His neck arched and
he reached out to nuzzle the golden neck.

**You're hopeless**

}:Am not, she likes me:{

R'enh just chuckled and called ahead, "Rhosyn are you ready? Oh my,"
he said as Lenala came into view. "You look good enough to eat," he
grinned.

}:You're as bad as I am.:{ Mnoranth's amusement filled his head.

"Thank you," Lenala replied. "I hope it doesn't show too much," she
added demurely.

"Yes I'm ready!" the Weyrwoman called before stepping up toward the bronze.
"You remember where we're going right?" She had a list in her head but
she'd gone over it with him beforehand anyway. He was going to be the
one flying so the girls could drink and not worry about remembering.
Rhosyn needed the time to relax and let loose without worrying about
everything else and who was watching.

Orlaith returned Mnoranth's greeting before settling. }:Take care of
mine and Vilarth's. They are important:{ Usually the two of them
weren't outside the Weyr together like that for good reason unless it
was a Threadfall, Hatching, or other official visit.

"You look perfect," R'enh grinned at Lenala.

Rilarth swooped onto the ledge as well. H'vack quickly slid off the
bronze dragon's back.

"I must protest this," He stated as he walked toward the group.
"_Both_ goldriders away from the Weyr together? What if something
happens?" He looked to R'enh, nodded in greeted, then spoke to him as
well, "While I trust you R'enh to take care of Rhosyn and Lenala, not
_every_ circumstance can be accounted for. You _all_ know this very
well. I do not like the idea of all of you together on one dragon,
away from the Weyr in this manner." He hated to be such a spoilsport,
but he couldn't in right mind let this happen without making sure all
necessary precautions were taken.

}:Of course,:{ Mnoranth reassured Orlaith. :}I will care for them like my
own:{

R'enh grinned and clapped H'vack on the shoulder. "What's the matter
man, don't think I can handle two ladies at once?" He waggled
suggestive eyebrows at both the ladies in question. Then grinned at
the other bronzerider.

When the man's cloudy expression didn't lighten up he shrugged. "So
come with us then."

"That isn't...well...er...what?" H'vack actually found himself
starting and stumbling through his own words at R'enh's answer. He
didn't want to offend his fellow bronzerider. It wasn't that he was
afraid R'enh couldn't handle the women. It was, rather the fact that
if in a blink his dragon didn't return, so much would be lost with
both goldriders in the same place.

He looked to Rhosyn and Lenala, then back at R'enh. "Perhaps that
could solve this after all. If we divide Rhosyn and Lenala onto
Mnoranth and Rilarth, then both goldriders would not be in the _exact_
same place if something were to happen." It made sense and would work
as a compromise if the women would agree.

Rhosyn tried not to frown but it was just like the Weyrlingmaster to rain
on her party. When R'enh offered the suggestion she was almost screaming
no. But then the man actually seemed like he would go. She gave Lenala
a look that said she was riding with him.

"You can be my escort then," Lenala cooed flirtingly. "You can protect
me from the big bad holders," she batted her eyeslashed and gave him
her most vapid and innocent look. She was happy to ride with H'vack.
She never had any problems with him.

It wasn't exactly what he'd anticipated, but he had to admit he was
glad Lenala would be his company over Rhosyn. He and the Weyrwoman
just didn't always see eye to eye.

"Well then, if we're going to do this, let's do it." H'vack stated,
reaching his hand to assist Lenala onto Rilarth. In a matter of
moments, he had them airborne. Rilarth received the images he needed
from Mnoranth and was off. In a blink of an eye, he took the pair on
his back /between/. When the popped into sight once again, they were
somewhere far different. Below them was a runner station and tavern
H'vack had not visited before.

Mnoranth hit the ground only a heartbeat ahead of Rilarth and in a
moment R'enh had slid off the big bronze back and turned to help
Rhosyn down. Then tucking her hand into the crook of his arm he led
her into the tavern.

"Innkeeper," he called and the man came running to attend the
bronzeriders and their ladies.

"My Lords," he bowed. "How can we serve you this evening?

R'enh smiled "The ladies are having birthdays and would like to celebrate."

"Indeed sir," he bowed and looked at Rhosyn, "How can I serve you ma'am?"

Smiling and happy to be away from the Weyr and all the reminders and
to just be some woman, Rhosyn thought about it for a moment. "A full
mug of sweet ale please and some fried tubers?" That would be good to
start. Her eyes searched the room to see if there was maybe a harper
or two with a gitar.

"Do you have Benden White?" Lenala asked, removing her jacket and
folding it over a chair. Her eyes scanned the place.

H'vack joined the group, pulling out Lenala's chair for her. He'd
designated himself as a sort of chaperone here, so it seemed having a
good drink of his own might be out of the question, though the thought
of sampling something new was very appealing to him.

Lenala reward him with brilliant smile. "Always such a pleasure to be
in the company of a gentleman."

He couldn't help but smile back. Something about Lenala brought out a
happier side of H'vack. "It's my pleasure Lenala." When one of the
barmaids came by he inquired about any unique local ales and when she
listed a few, he ordered one for himself. One drink surely wouldn't
hurt.

When the ale and chips came, Rhosyn dug in. She needed sustenance if
she was going to last the evening. And it was going to be a long
evening if she had any say in it. She offered some of the chips to
R'enh first, then Lenala. When she was done, she noticed there was
indeed some young man with a gitar and got up to go toward him. "Hey,
could you play some dance tunes? Please? It's our birthingday."

Of course the boy nodded and got ready and was soon joined by a man
with a fiddle. Rhosyn turned and smiled at R'enh. "Hey bronzerider!
Can you dance?" Her hair was partly down for once and the shining
copper was brilliant. The smile on her face transformed her into a
different woman and Rhosyn's feet were already tapping as the song
started.

He'd been sipping at some fresh cider and set it down to grin and
cross the floor. "I think I can manage," he said. He swug her out and
then back and began a nice quickstep dance to the lively tune.

"Dance with me, please?" Lenala asked turning to H'vack. Now, why she
hadn't paid any attention to him before? He was real nice.

He noticed that Rhosyn never offered the basket of chips in his
direction, but just shrugged it off. Things were not going to get any
better between them by making a fuss over something so silly.

He was surprised, but pleased, by Lenala's request. It had been so
long since H'vack had simply enjoyed anyone's company, and dancing?
Well, he couldn't remember the last time he'd danced.

"I would be honored," he smiled, taking her hand as he stood. He
leaned in and whispered, "I'm a bit rusty however."

A few hours went by and Rhosyn had to admit, even she was done dancing
for awhile. Walking back to the table with a smile on her face, she grabbed
a glass of water and chugged it down. Swinging the glass down, she smiled
to herself. "I think it's time to go to the next place." She'd chosen the
places for different reasons. The next place was a minor hold known for their
seafood. It was northern as well, on the west coast. Fish and beer
always went together. Waiting on R'enh and the others to see if they
were ready, she felt herself becoming looser.

H'vack managed to only step on Lenala's toes a few times in their
dance. He vowed to brush up on his skills when next he had a spare
moment. By the time the music ended, he was winded himself. He walked
Lenala back to the table where he noted Rhosyn looked rather antsy.
"Ready to go already?" he asked, finishing the ale he'd ordered and
vowing not to have another drink whilst on this trip. He was to be a
chaperone, not a participant.

R'enh was fully aware of the itinerary and though the amount of time
they'd stayed at this one tavern was longer than he'd anticipated. He
reached out to toss the small group leader a full mark for their
excellent playing. He then put his arm around Rhosyn and escorted her
out to the waiting dragons. Once they were all mounted it was only a
matter if minutes before they were again spiraling in to another Tavern.

It took her a little longer to mount and then get down, but of course
she had help. Actually Rhosyn almost flung herself off the bronze into
R'enh's arms at the last, laughing as she did it. Following the light
inside, they entered a room that was not as loud, but still with quite
a few people. There were plenty of food smells and she took a sniff,
sighing. "Ahh...Now to sit and get some beer. I want spiderclaws and
redfin. What about you Lenala?"

"Umh, I don't know," Lenala said hesitantly. She had enjoyed her dance
with H'vack (despite getting stepped on toes) and had been reluctantly
leave for new Tavern. What was wrong in the first one?

H'vack followed along with the group. He had not much to offer in
terms of conversation, but when food was mentioned he leaned over and
whispered to Lenala, "The pulled wherry meat on bread is apparently
well known in this area. It might be worth a try." He planned to give
it a go himself as it was not as common in all areas.

"I do hope it's worth it," Lenala said. She rather liked the way
H'vack paid attention to her.

It didn't take long for the drudge to come and get their orders and
when Rhosyn had a plate of fish and claws in front of her with some
biscuits, she grinned. A mug of beer was set down as well and the
Weyrwoman threw herself over to one of her true passions-eating.

Lenala watched her eat and shook her head in amazed amusement. "Where
does she put all that food?" she wondered. She sipped her wine.

"That's a good question," H'vack replied looking over at Rhosyn.
"Where do you manage to put it all Rhosyn?"

R'enh chucked, "Hey, did you not just see us dancing for two hours?
Works up an appetite," he grinned at Rhosyn and back at his own plate
which was even more full than hers.

"Hey, we danced too, and I'm more thirsty than hungry," Lenala said.

"Well yeah dancing does make me hungry. Not really that, though...I've
always liked food. Just one of those things. Guess it comes with being born
in a farming cothold. Food was a simple thing to make you happy." She
shrugged and didn't even bother with the implication she was fat or a
glutton since she wasn't. It was also not the first time people had remarked on her
appetite.

"The dancing was quite fun, and it _does_ cause one to have an
appetite and thirst." H'vack replied and picked up his own mug and
took a good, long drink.

"To the birthingday girls," he raised his glass and looked to them
both in a toast.

R'enh lifted his own glass of cider to each of the ladies with a grin
"May your next turn be the best one yet," he added in the time honored
tradition.
