I Can't Help...

"Whoa I'lan." Xuxha stopped in her tracks when she saw the young bronzerider headed in her direction. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing!" he growled. Naath had just lost a flight, surely she had to know that. While the bronze hadn't really stood a chance with the older experienced green, he'd still been caaught up in the feelings and emotions generated by the events. All the bronzerider wanted now was release of some sort.

"Oh really?" Xuxha crossed her arms over her chest and cocked an eye at the young man. "Gee, you sound so cheerful, so I guess not."

"Just let me be," he said, trying to be rude and push past the Weyrlingmaster's Third.

"Fine." Xuxha snorted and stepped aside, "But if you treat all your friends like this, you're not going to have many stick around."

That did slow the bronzerider down a moment. "Naath just lost that flight okay, I'm not in the mood to talk."

"Oh, I see." Xuxha managed to choke back a chuckle. The young man would have to get used to disappointment; and dealing with the aftermath. "Well, I'd love to help you with your, but I'm afraid you've caught me at a really bad time." She paused, then added, "Although maybe I could be of some help."

"You could?" the young bronzerider studied her.

"I'm afraid I personally can't help you, but you know, there are usually some people hanging around to help provide some...comfort to those men who don't win the flights in which they participate."

"I don't want some random woman!"

Xuxha took a step back, frowning. "Sorry, I'lan. I know the flight was a disappointment, but it happens. You'll have another chance."

"I just need... to get out of here."

"Dunk yourself in some cold water, that will help." Xuxha offered a sympathetic smile, then stepped out of the way so the young man could continue onward.

"Is that all you can offer?" He took a step closer.

Xuxha's smile softened. "I can offer something, though not exactly what you're looking for. You've caught me at a bad time of the month."

"In that case..." The boy spotted a passing drudge, who smiled at him.
She was quite pretty really.

Xuxha glanced over at the drudge, then sighed softly. "I'll see you later?"

"Maybe," replied I'lan as he smiled back at the drudge. She might do, for now.
