Description: Eioval approaches the Weyrwoman Second with some high hopes.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 5, day 26 of Turn 7
Eioval was looking uncharacteristically clean as he marched the halls of
River Bluff Weyr. No errant paint, a decent, buttoned-up shirt and his long
blond hair in a runners-tail down his back. Anyone who might have been
surprised, would be less so if they knew where he was headed. When he
arrived at Lenala's office, he knocked lightly.
"Yes?" Lenala called. Pen between her teeth, she was rummaging thru her
piles of hides.
Eioval popped his head around the corner. "Excuse me, Ma'am, do you have a
moment?"
"Depends how long," Lenala replied with a smile and took the pen off her
mouth. She did notice how good looking he was.
"Just a tiny moment," Eioval promised as he slipped in. "I wanted to ask
you a favor. Vilarth's clutching has had me meditating on that precious
moment of impression. I get a lot of requests of riders wanting me to paint
their impression, but it's hard to imagine if you haven't a clue, like me."
"It's also hard to describe to someone who's not been through it," Lenala
replied. "I gather you have some sort of idea?"
"Yes, I do," Eioval said triumphantly. "I was hoping you might allow me
access to the Hatching Sands on Hatching Day. I would stay well out of the
way, of course, but I'd be able to get a better look up close. It would
help me immensely in my work!"
"Hmm," Lenala said thoughtfully. "I don't have anything against it but I'm
not so sure how _Vilarth_is going to take it."
"Could you ask her for me? Tell her I will be documenting a very important
moment for her hatchlings. I'm sure a proud mother wouldn't be against an
idea like that?" Did it work like that for dragons? He had no idea.
"Of course I can. I have no idea what she'll answer," Lenala promised. She
was quite curious to find that out herself. Would Vilarth let the artist
close?
"Thank you so much," Eioval was grinning from ear to ear. "Should I come
back later to ask what she decided?"
Lenala nodded. "Can you come to see us in Hatching Cavern? It would
probably help if Vilarth actually met you before."
"Oh, yes, certainly," Eioval said, blue eyes glowing with excitement. "When
would be an appropriate time?"
"Any time I'm there. Probably not at the same time than the candidates are
visiting," Lenala replied.
"Of course, thank you for the opportunity Ma'am, I hope I can make a good
impression on Vilarth."
