Notes: Pt 1 of 2
L'cor and Tonuth were ready with his extra riding straps in place for
his intended passenger later. The morning was light and beautiful and
promised to remain that way. Yesterday's Threadfall had prevented him
from doing this on Corowal's actual birthing day as he'd originally
intended. But hopefully, he'd enjoy it just the same. After all, how
many people got to see a bronze dragon let alone ride one unless they
were a rider or a Lord.
"I promised the Weyrlingstaff I'd check those," Oria called out as she
arrived, riding jacket n her hands.
"Thanks," he smiled and stepped back while Tonuth's head swung around
to look at the green rider curiously.
"Hello Tonuth," she said to the bronze. "Looks like L'cor did a good job
fastening these straps."
Tonuth blew a little whoosh of air at her his eyes whirling blue. He
enjoyed praise of his rider almost as much as praise of his own
shining hide.
"Good to go," L'cor asked.
"Yes, we're good," came the reply as Oria was putting her riding jacket on,
and pulling her belt into place. "Just got to check the visualization, don't
want you two escaping to the north or anything."
"Alright," L'cor said and fastened his own jacket then scrambled up
into his seat. "Ready when you are."
"Ready now,"Oria said form her own seat, even as she and Degrorth asked
Tonuth to share their image of Emerald Falls.
L'cor was careful of forming his picture of the view of the hold from
his Weyrling training rather than the one he remembered from his
younger years. Tonuth then shared it with Degrorth.
Degrorth and Oria checked it.
**Let Tonuth and his know that it's right and we can go,** Oria asked of her
green.
In moments they were airborne and soon over the Star Stones. He lifted
his arm in the signal and the cold nothing of /between/ shocked his
system and then they were in the clear warm skies of Emerald Falls. He
blew out a small breath of relief as they began to descend. Tonuth
hailed the watch dragon as they spiraled in towards the gather square
where it looked like a party was being set up.
There were a few folks arriving so a dragon coming in was nothing for
Sarban to get excited over. The Steward was overseeing some of the
preparations from his perch at the front of the Hold.
Seeing the dragons landing, Corowal went to window to see. He liked to
watch dragons, a left over from a childhood dream of Impressing. They were
too far off to him to see who the riders were.
Tonuth backwinged and touched down lightly in a clear space. He wasn't yet
fully grown but he was the size of a large brown. He hadn't challenged the
watch dragon but made their presence known. L'cor slid from his seat and
stood waiting for Oria.
**Nicely done, tell them that,** Oria asked of Degrorth as the smaller green
managed her own landing close by Tonuth. It was the work of practiced
moments to undo the buckles holding her straps in place, and dismount,
coming to stand next to L'cor.
The corner of L'cor's mouth lifted in response to the relayed comment
and he winked at Oria. Then he scanned the crowd and walked across the
square to the Steward. "Sir, I'm here to see Lord Corowal if I may."
It didn't take long to figure out who this bronzerider was despite the boy
not
mentioning his name yet. Sarban knew enough of his own family's looks to see
a few things in L'cor. "I believe the Lord Holder is in his office.
Would you like
me to let him know you are here or would you like me to take you to him?"
"Whichever you think is better," he replied courteously. "I am L'cor
of bronze Tonuth and this is Oria." He figured he probably didn't need
to introduce her since she was a regular courier to Emerald Falls but
one never knew
"Degrorth's rider," the greenrider said. "I have some dispatches from the
Weyrleader."
"I can take those thank you," Sarban assured her kindly. "L'cor of bronze
Tonuth and Oria of green Degrorth, why don't you both make your way to
the Great Hall for some Emerald Falls hospitality? I will let the Lord
Holder
know you're here and he will probably join you shortly." It was always
customary
for any rider
coming through to at least get a drink to warm them up
from /between/.
It also allowed them to relax some.
"Yes, thank you," L'cor said and stepped around the Steward and into
the hold. He'd never seen the inside of his father's home before and
couldn't help but be impressed. Green Valley Hold was nice but it
didn't hold a glow to Emerald Falls. The food was laid out but
servers appeared to bring them whatever they might like and L'cor sat
at a table with and excellent pulled porcine sandwich and a beer.
Leaving the riders to find their way, Sarban headed for Corowal's
quarters. Coming into his cousin's den, he knocked first before
walking inside the opened door. "Those riders you saw out of the
window-one of them is your son. He's eating in the Great Hall."
"Is he now?" Corowal said. "Well, after he's eating, why don't you
bring him to my private reception room. I'll get the children, it's
time for them to meet their half-brother."
"Will do." Sarban would go back to his preparations and let Corowal
visit once he delivered L'cor. Allowing sufficient time to pass, he
went back to the bronzerider and let him know that Corowal was waiting
for him.
Corowal had taken the children to his private reception room and tried
to explain the situation to them. Ofewal was not taking it well.
"Another one?" was his sarcastic comment. The younger ones simply
didn't seem to care.
