}:Chioneth,:{ Panithath bespoke the other gold on behalf of her rider.
}:Mine would like to see yours in her weyr if you would like to visit
us again.:{

Meanwhile Cyradis had already set things in motion to prepare the
larger of the goldrider weyrs for the woman and her family. She'd even
pulled the technicians from where they'd been working to run the
needed wiring to give her the upgrades she herself didn't yet have in
her weyr.

"Don't let me get in your way." Saibra ducked underneath a pair of
crafters who were running some wire. She had not expected to have an
updated weyr so the sight of the technicians was a pleasant and
welcome one.

"Mooommmm." Kaibren's voice whined for the millionth time.

Saibra whirled around, her frustration boiling to the top, "What, Kai,
what in Faranth's name is so important?!"

The boy stood in the midst of the unpacking, a pout on his face, "I
can't find my dragon!"

"Well where did you put it last? Didn't I tell you to pack it in a
safe place?" Saibra said as she began tearing through boxes, looking
for the wooden figurine that K'fel had carved for their son just days
before he had died. Even as she looked, Saibra knew that tears were
welling up in the child's eyes.

"It's right here you cry baby." Saidrene said with disgust as she
tossed the wooden dragon at her brother.

Saibra sighed as she straightened, "Don't tease your brother,
Saidrene, and don't throw his dragon."

}:Cyradis wishes to see you.:{ Chioneth broke in.

Kaibren sniffed as he clutched the only remaining piece of his father
to his chest, "Look, Saidrene, why don't you and Kai go explore the
Weyr a bit, hm? I need to go see the Weyrwoman for a bit anyway."

Saidrene sighed and rolled her eyes as she placed a hand on her
brother's head, "Fine, come on, twirp."

With a sigh of relief, Saibra escaped the mess of her weyr. She needed
a break from unpacking anyway and welcomed the opportunity to visit in
Cyradis's weyr, which she was sure would be neat and in order. When
she arrived at the Weyrwoman's door she knocked and then pushed the
door open.

"Welcome to Dolphin Cove Saibra," Cyradis smiled from where she stood
pouring tea into two cups. A small selection of refreshments was laid
out on the table with fruit, cheese, and meat rolls. "I thought you
could use a small break."

"And not a moment too soon." Saibra smiled as she took a seat at the
table, her eyes briefly glancing around. She had felt during the
interview that she and Cyradis would be compatible as Weyrwomen, and
possibly even friends.

Cyradis chuckled and carried the cups to her small table. "How's the
new weyr," she asked. She and Qorri had spend some significant time on
it before Saibra had arrived and she hoped it had showed.

"It's great," Saibra said as she accepted her cup of tea and took a
grateful gulp, "I admit I was pleasantly surprised to find
electricity." She had been fully prepared to use glows and candles
alone for lighting purposes.

"I have to admit it's a recent addition. I've been working on a
project to get the weyrs updated. So I moved yours ahead a bit."
Cyradis nodded and picked up a piece of cheese. "Glad you like it. Of
course the cliffside weyrs will be the hardest. I still haven't
figured out how they're going to run electricity to them."

"I can imagine that it is quite the project." Saibra agreed as she
took another sip of her tea, "You and the Headwoman have certainly
outdone yourselves."

"It is," she smiled. "The Weyr had been abandoned for sometime when an
earthquake destroyed Thyan Peak and the Weyr was moved here to Dolphin
Cove." Cyradis had been studying the old scrolls as was her duty as
Weyrwoman to know her people and their history as best she could.
"When they moved in they'd lost their Weyrwoman and ended up with a
young one to replace her. I think they were just so much into survival
mode and trying to recover from tragedy after tragedy that no one
thought of it. We still haven't fully recovered."

"Thank you," she said to the compliment. "Qorri is a marvel and will
takes very good care of us all."

Saibra smiled a bit at that, having a capable Headwoman was always a
good thing, some people didn't understand how Headwomen took some of
the burdens off of the goldriders' shoulders. "I guess while I am
here, we can discuss what tasks and duties you would like me to take
care of."

"Yes," Cyradis nodded. "Down to business. Well, I think I'd like you
to take the lead in Meledei's training. She's hit some recent rough
patches and probably needs a friendly ear with some good advice. If
you know what I mean."

The Weyrwoman's Second nodded slowly, "I can certainly do that. How
old is Meledei?" She asked.

"She's nineteen and Elleth has just had her second flight." Cyradis
wanted to be very careful as she'd seen more than one young goldrider
ruined with mishandling and didn't want that to happen to Meledei.
"Elleth is small for a gold. Smaller than our largest bronzes Loseth
and Mnoranth. Meledei is quite sensitive on that point."

Saibra nodded, letting that sink in. Some dragonriders had trouble
accepting the size of their dragon. She wasn't sure why, Elleth's size
didn't make her any less a Queen. Chioneth was average in size for a
gold so Saibra had never given it much thought. "I understand. What
about relationships? Does she have a weyrmate?" An unattached, young
goldrider was sometimes problematic in the sense that there were young
men, and old, vying for her attention because of her dragon. It was
hard to be young and distinguish which meant were really interested in
you and which men were interested in your dragon.

Cyradis was fairly confident Saibra did indeed understand. "No, she
doesn't have one though she apparently had a relationship at one time
that ended badly." At least she knew that much from some of her
conversations with some of the others in the Weyr.

"I see." Saibra finished her tea and stood, "Thank you for the break,
Cyradis. I will see what I can do with Meledei, she's only a few Turns
older than my Saidrene." Perhaps that could be helpful, she thought as
she stood.

Cyradis stood as well and offered her hand. "I'm very glad you've come
to us Saibra. We'll take some time to get to know one another better
once you've settled in."
