Flight

Kjarliheth was showing off her shiny green hide to the males gathering to
admire and chase her. Aileyan was looking the men too, chewing her lower
lip nervously. Where was Kalamath and U'kaiah? Nirreth was there as well as
his rider. Several browns had shown up as well, not to mention plenty of
blues. A glimmer bronze got Aileyan's hopes up, no, this one was young
bronze who's rider she didn't know. And there was J'nev...she pretended not
to see him.
** Where are you, my love? Hurry up, I don't want Nirreth to win again!**
Aileyan thought feverently, scanning the skies. Kjarliheth was already done
with the Blooding.
There was no doubt when Kalamath broke into the sky above, trumpeting
loudly to announce his arrival. }:I'm here, beauty! Wait for just a
moment longer!:{
As soon as his four feet touched the ground, a barefoot, half-naked and
chilled U'kaiah slid off his neck and onto the ground with as much urgency
as his bronze was feeling. "I'm here, Aileyan! I'm here!" he called as he
ran towards the circle full speed.
"Oh, good!" Aileyan let out a deep breath of relief. Just then, with
challenging trumpet, Kjarliheth shot in the air.
**Get her!** U'kaiah called as his bronze leaped into the sky after her.
}:Don't worry. You had yours. Now I will catch mine!:{ Kalamath's wings
beat hard and strong, his focus solely on the green in front of him. }:Fly
high and long, pretty Kjarliheth! You will see, I am the one you want!:{
After drawing the Flight as long as she could, Kjarliheth allowed her mate
to catch her.
Aileyan was more than happy to be carried away by U'kaiah.

Aileyan shifted drowsily, resting her head against U'kaiah's chest. Small
smile played on her lips.
The bronzerider was exhausted. Tavia, and now a Flight! **Tavia...**
Shards, she was probably so angry at him right now! But what could he do?
He couldn't deny his dragon when he wanted to Catch. Deep down, he
couldn't say that he wouldn't do it all again. As much as he wanted to be
with Tavia, there was no way he would leave Aileyan to another dragonrider
without a proper Fight. When Tavia came to Dragonsfall, he would feel the
same about her. It was just... rotten luck they had both Risen on the same
day.
And so, pushing down the knowledge that the next day he would have a _lot_
of explaining and apologizing to do, he lay back into the pillows with a
long sigh, drawing soft lines up and down Aileyan's back with the tips of
his fingers. It felt good to lay with her like this
"You certainly cut it fine," Aileyan remarked lazyly. "I'm so happy you
made it in time." Her own fingers started a leisure exploration of their
own.
"I came as soon as I heard." He didn't even wait to put on his shirt or
find his boots he was in such a hurry to be there! Of course, he wasn't
going to mention that. "I'm here, and we won. That's all that matters. I
wouldn't want anyone else to wake up next to you like this."
"Mm," she murmured an agreement. Her fingertips found scrapes on his chest.
Did she do those? She lifted her head to look. "Did I hurt you?" she asked,
stroking the scratch marks. Her forehead wrinkled...wait a minute? Her
finger's were as petite as rest of her. She put her fingers against the
marks. They didn't match up.
His first instinct was to try to excuse them, knowing how much it would
hurt her to know that it had been another woman who had left evidence of
their love making on him. U'kaiah hating hurting Aileyan. But he had
decided from the start that he would have to be completely honest with both
her and Tavia about each other, despite how it might sting, or there could
be no real hope for a future.
He covered her hand with his and looked her straight in the eye. "No
sweetheart. That wasn't you. That was Tavia. Her green Rose today, too,
and... Well, the man she had been with had said some very hurtful things
to her once the Flight was done. I didn't know it at the time, but that's
why Glory came to find me. Tavia was upset and unhappy. So I tried my
best to make her forget the bad memory of the Flight."
Aileyan stared him, not sure how she should react. So he had literally
flown from one greenrider's bed to another's. She didn't know if she should
be angry for him to leave her like that to rush off to her, or be just
happy he had made it back to her in time to win Kjarliheth's Flight. The
conflicting emotions flicked through her face and she pulled back, wrapping
her arms around herself. At least he was being honest about, _brutally_
honest. Her insecurities reared their ugly head again. Was she going to
lose him to her? Was there any way she would make sure U'kaiah didn't
abandon her?
"Hey, hey," U'kaiah said softly, sitting up to face her. He grabbed her
arms gently. "Don't do that, Aileyan. Don't try to hide from me. I know
this hurts you, but I didn't do it to cause to you pain. I love you,
Aileyan. She has nothing to do with how I feel for you."
She wanted to ask which one of them he care more but didn't dare. She
wasn't sure if she really wanted to know. What if he said Tavia? She had
his baby, and what did Aileyan have?
U'kaiah frowned, a little. She wasn't moving. She was giving no hint of
what was going on inside. "Please, Aileyan, _say_ something."
"About what? That you're jumping around between us? How long this can go
on?" she asked.
His brow furrowed. Sometimes it was so hard to stay positive about their
situation, especially now that _both_ of his lovers seemed to be doubting
if it could work. **Never give up, U'kaiah,** he reminded himself. **All
this will be worth it in the end. They will see. Just never give up.**
"As long as you love me, Aileyan," he said gently. "I've already told
you, I will _never_ leave you for her. And I mean it."
"It's hard to to feel insecure," she sighed and tried to shake off the
dark mood that had fallen on her. "You're here now and that's what really
matters in the end," her smile was bit shaky, but it was a smile. She was
trying to show a brave face for his sake. The stress of the situation was
probably affecting them all. Would it get easier or worse if/when Tavia was
in the same Weyr?
"I am here," he said, taking her face in his hands and kissing her softly.
"And I'm happy to be here. With _you_." U'kaiah truly appreciated her
attempt at putting her feelings aside. How he wished he could make time
hurry, so it wouldn't hurt so much. But they had to earn their future, he
knew.
