"Here," U'kaiah said, picking out the beans from his salad and
depositing them in Aileyan's. "Why the Ancients bothered to bring
those aweful things to Pern is beyond me. Are you going to eat your white
roots?"

"Beans are healthy, a good source of protein," Aileyan replied. She
picked up a the mentioned root and inspected it. "Do you think what it
reminds me of?" she asked with suggestive tone. Kjarliheth was proddy
and close to Rising and she was feeling bold.

"Bent like that? Hopefully not anyone I know." He leaned closer with
a grin, "But I like that line of thinking." Aileyan didn't usually
joke that way in public with him. It was nice that she seemed to
relaxed!

"Well..." she put the root into her mouth and actually sucked it. Yes,
she was definenty feeling bold, and lusty.

On her ledge, Kjarliheth stirred restlessly in her sleep. Her hide was
getting the bright emerald shine that went with mating heat.

U'kaiah's eyebrows raised in pleasant surprise as he watched her with
rapt interest. Whatever had gotten into her? And could this meal
finish fast enough? Well, two could play that game! Plucking one of
the detested beans back from her dish, he put it to his lips and rolled
it around with his tongue before sucking it into his mouth with a quick
pop.

"See, nothing wrong with the beans..." her voice was turning hoarse.
"Ahh, must be Kjarrie..."

"What do you mean?" U'kaiah asked, not quite following her. But before
she could answer, a golden flit popped in over the greenrider's head,
chattering at him excitedly. "Glory?" The bronzerider recognized her
at once, though her sudden appearance confused him. "That's Tavia's
gold."

She was about to tell him that Kjarliheth would be Rising as soon as
she woke up from her sleep but the firelizard's appearance interrupted
her. Look of indignation crossed her face, but he didn't even notice
it. Just as things were getting _so_ interesting!

"Here, girl, you want something?" Obviously she was not carrying a
message, but there was some reason why she had come. He reached out a
piece of meat from his plate, but the gold grabbed his sleeve instead
and began tugging on it insistently. "Hey, now, what do you want?"

**Kalamath?** he called imploringly to his bronze for help. The gold
popped out of sight once more. "She's never done _that_ before,"
U'kaiah said with a confused shake of his head. What was going on?

Aileyan just shrugged and shook her head. She was about to develope a
pout, like only proddy greenrider with proddy green could.

His bronze could give his rider some hints, but no real answers.
}:U'kaiah, the pretty one's with me now. She's upset. She wants us to
go to hers. It seems important.:{

**Is it Kaiavin? Is something wrong?** U'kaiah asked, feeling a twinge
of worry and ignoring Aileyan's change of mood. This could be
something really serious!

}:It's not the tiny one. It's your mate. The pretty one is showing me
pictures of her lying down and not moving. She's worried and wants us
to go with her.:{

U'kaiah didn't know what all this was about, but he had no choice but
to find out. "Sweetheart, I'm sorry. Kalamath is telling me there's
trouble at Dolphin Cove. I have to go."

"Of course you have to," her tone was frosty and sarcastic.

"Please don't do that," he begged, hating that look in her eye.
Bending to kiss her softly he said, "You know I'd do the same for you."

"I know. Do hurry back," she softened and replied to his kiss.
