Description: K'ale helps Cardella celebrate her birthday in a rather intimate way
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 1, day 5 of Turn 7
It had been a good day so far. Cardella couldn't have been happier.
She spent time with her friends and had even received a gift from her
family. She'd promised them she'd come out to see them again soon.
Running her fingers over the blanket brought a smile to her face.
She'd told them once it got cold at times, and they'd had a weaver
craft the blanket with flecks of green and the colors of Dragonsfall
as well. It was a gift she knew she would treasure for always.
K'ale hefted his little basket and knocked on Cardella's door. He'd
made a special gift for her but didn't want to give it to her where
others could see and ridicule him.
"Della you there?"
She recognized the voice and moved to her door with a smile on her face.
"K'ale!" She greeted him. "Come in. I'm glad you stopped by." She
wanted to throw her arms around his neck and hold him close, but she
held herself back. She'd been afraid to be overly emotive with him in
case it would lead to her revealing her true feelings and pushing him
away.
"Can I get you something to drink? Oh and I've got a whole plate of
pasties that the girls in the kitchens brought up for me," she held up
the dish and smiled. She'd remained close to many of them from her
time there when she'd first arrived. It had been sweet of them to
think of her on her birthingday.
"Sure," he smiled "but maybe you should open this first." He reached
out to hand her the gift he'd spent so many hours on.
"Oh," she stated, excited by the gift he handed her. She was always
surprised by the presents people gave her on these days.
"Thank you for remembering and thinking of me," she said, her hands
holding the box while she looked at him. Oh, how handsome he looked
today. He _always_ looked handsome to her.
Taking the box, she went and sat on the sofa and motioned for him to
join her. Then with eager, but delicate fingers, she started to unwrap
the box. When she did, her eyes lit up.
"Oh, K'ale, did you make these yourself?" She reached in and pulled
out one of the glass goblets. The stem was so perfectly made and the
cup portion, tinted blue was itched with beautiful ribbing designs.
Not caring about crossing any lines, she reached over and wrapped her
arms around his neck in a fierce hug, one goblet still held tightly in
her hand. "Thank you so much. I love them!"
K'ale smiled in pride that she seemed to like them so much. Cardella
was on of the few people in the Weyr who hadn't almost shunned him
when Imalkyth and sired such a small clutch. She'd been happy and
supportive of him instead. While she was his very good friend she'd
proven just how good a friend she was. "You're welcome," he said and
hugged her back. She felt so good in his arms he blinked after a
moment as he felt his body tighten in response.
He gave her a quick kiss on the cheek and stepped back a pace, just a
little confused. "Um, how about a glass of wine?"
She was warm and happy in his arms and when he kissed her she felt it
ignite her whole body.
"Wine! Perfect idea!" She declared rising and then catching the box in
her enthusiasm. "And I have the perfect goblets for us as well." She
moved to the little table she kept with refreshments and poured them
both a glass. Carrying them back, she handed one to K'ale.
He took the glass and offered her a salute. "To you Cardella and
another safe and wonderful turn for both you and Awenth. Happy
Birthingday." He took a quick sip and grinned, "Nice, and they don't
leak."
She lifted her own glass and gently touched it to his in the toast.
"I _knew_ they wouldn't leak, silly. You have good hands and whatever
you make turns out beautiful. You and I both know it." She smiled at
him. "Can you stay awhile or do you have to get back soon?"
"Sure I can stay," he smiled and took a drink of the wine she'd handed
him. He picked up her hand and led her to the sofa. "So, what do you
have planned tonight, other than having a drink with me that is?"
She followed him, her own goblet in hand. "I didn't really have any
plans," she told him as she settled beside him on the sofa. "I'm glad
you stopped by, else it would have been a lonely night." Cardella
sipped her wine. It wasn't long before she'd finished the first glass
and gone to fill both their glasses again. She didn't even know what
all they'd talked about, she just knew she was happy having K'ale to
keep her company.
Settling down beside him with freshly filled goblets of wine again,
she leaned her head against his shoulder with a happy sigh.
K'ale put his arm around her in a happy mood and drank from the wine.
He was beginning to feel the relaxation and edifying effects of the
wine and his thoughts turned in another direction entirely.. He put
his glass down and turned toward her. "Cardella," he said and put a
finger under her chin. His lips brushed hers softly.
She, too, was feeling the relaxing effects of the wine. She's settled
happily against him. Now _this_ was how she wanted to feel.
Comfortable, calm, relaxed, and in K'ale's arms.
When he spoke her name, she started to respond, "Ye..." but his lips
captured the rest of her word. Her world seemed to spin happily the
instant his lips touched hers. Cardella quickly and easily returned
the kiss. Her hands moved to clutch at his tunic as though to draw him
closer to her.
Her response was more than he expected so he was a little off balance
in the first moment. He pulled back after a moment and his eyes bored
into hers. "If you want me to stop, you better tell me right now."
"I _don't_ want you stop," Cardella replied breathlessly. In fact,
she'd _wanted_ this for far too long and hadn't been able to tell him.
Winning Awenth's last Flight had broken the barrier, but since then
she'd not been able to tell him of her true feelings. Now, with the
wine going to her head, her regular inhibitions seemed to fall away
just as she hoped their clothes would soon.
"Then I won't," he ground out. He stood and pulled her up in a smooth
movement. Then he bent and picked her up and carried her into her
sleeping chamber
