Aishara stepped out of the infirmary, happy to be rid of the cast and
those infernal crutches. She still had a slight limp even if the
healers had declared her healed and able to return to her duties. No
more huddling in her weyr. Especially since it had been such a silly
accident. Had it been a Scoring, she wouldn't have been so ashamed.
But falling off a runner, expert rider like her? Her wingleader hadn't
been too happy either. Now she could give him the good news.
She walked further into the bowl and spotted a familiar figure. Her
face lit up. "Hey! R'ehn!" she called and waived.
R'enh heard the voice and turned. A smile lit his face and he waved
back. He jogged over toward where she stood. "Well look at you," he
smiled looking at her face first and then the leg without a cast. "How
does it feel?"
"Bit wobbly," Aishara replied. "Remind me not to break my leg again. I
hated those crutches. I couldn't go or do anything with them. I was
going crazy," it was also a form of apology for ignoring R'ehn past
sevendays.
He smiled and winked, silently accepting her apology. Then he turned
and offered her his arm to lean on. "Hungry," he asked.
"Enough to join you," Aishara replied with bright smile and slipped
her hand to his.
"Great," he grinned. He escorted her at her pace and didn't try to
hurry her in the least. He found them a table and then offered to go
fill a plate for her. "What would you like?"
"Fish, if there is some, otherwise I'm fine whatever they're serving
today," Aishara replied. "I like fish."
"Alright," he smiled. "Fish it is." And true to his word he found two
plates with fish and steamed vegetables. "Would you like something to
drink," he asked when he slid them onto the table.
"I'll have juice or water," Aishara replied and gave him thank you-smile.
He retrieved both and set them in front of her before taking his seat.
"This looks like a good choice," he smiled. He probably didn't eat as
much fish as he should. He turned his plate a little to get the best
angle and speared a tuber.
"Thank you. So, do you have any plans for the Turn over?" Aishara said
and asked.
"I don't yet," he popped the tuber into his mouth and chewed
thoughtfully. "Do you?"
"I was thinking of Emerald Falls hold. The harper hall is moving there
and there will be large gather," she replied. "Would you like to come
there with me?" she asked almost shyly. She wanted spend more time
with him. And more she learned to know him, the more she liked him.
He nodded, "Yes that sounds like a great idea. I'll bet their
celebrations will be bigger and better than ever with the Harper Hall
right there now. Though we'll miss them here." Aishara was a lovely
young woman and he knew he'd enjoy her company.
"Great, it's a date then," Aishara smiled. "You can meet my dad."
For just a second his smile slipped but then the confident bronzrider
reemerged. "That sounds great!" He kind of blinked at his own reaction
and then shrugged it off. He liked the greenrider a great deal and if
it made her happy to introduce him to her father then, he'd go along
with it. "What does your father do?"
"He's a master beastcrafter, so be prepared to talk about runners."
Aishara said with a grin. "Don't worry, he's weyrbred, you'll get
along just fine," she continued. The changes in his expression hadn't
missed her sharp eyes.
That was a relief to know. At least he wouldn't have a glowering
holder casting black looks in his direction. "Alright then," he
smiled. "I don't know that much about runners but I'll be happy to
listen. Would you mind if Zorenh came along? He's been talking about
beastcrafting like there's no other subject he's interested in."
"Sure, he's welcome in too," Aishara replied. "Just don't let my
father show him canine puppies..."
The thought of his son with a puppy caused a chuckle. Of course Zorenh was
just turned twelve and puppies would be an irresistible magnet. The
challenge would be _not_ bringing one home.
"Oh I doubt I'll be able to keep him away from them."
